Well, after 5 years of of having my ATV repair/service shop I have had to close the doors. Just poor economy and lack of business here over the last several months have made it tough, but i was able to keep going untill December. It finally got bad enough that I could no longer make ends meet no matter how tight i stretched everything so With great sadness, I locked the door today for what would be the last Actual day of business. There are still a few things to do up there but It is no longer what i consider my place of employment.
I already have another job which is better than some other people that have lost jobs in this area but it is so much different when you lose what you work so hard to build and create, see what you worked so hard for come to an end when it should not have been time. I was always told that if you lose your own business that it hits like nothing else, It was a feeling that i hoped i would never know and I must say to any Business owners that read this, I hope that you never feel what i feel right now

Man, I am sorry to hear this. I thought you had the neatest little atv shop I ever saw. I hope things work out for you and maybe one day you can get your dream back.

Will, I feel for you. I know what it's like as he shop just about bellied up itself. We started doing other things as well and so far have been able to keep it going. We never gave up our regular jobs either, so that has helped during tough times.

back in 04 I closed down my CUSTOM SHOP.... well didnt really close sold it out, then thought I went on to do the right thing... that didnt work out and I returned, to find out that they slanderd my name and ruined the shop. I returned to late to buy it back and restore it and I watched it close its doors soon after.

I used to say "by the time im 25 I want my own shop"

well I did and I was happy... I made a few dub mistakes and now I will never have a shop again.

does that bother me? not really I did find solid jobs and still can do what I love on the side under my old shop name.

Keep your head up, good thing you got something to walk back into after all this.

what I find curious though what kind of area are you?
there is a small local shop where i take some stuff to and they thrive! but they also have been in the biz for 30+ years.

Will, sorry to hear that. i had 2 bike shops out here in vegas, and a truck shop, i did pretty dam good the first couple of years, then i kept getting broken into, thousands of dollars in inventory was stolen from me. i finally recovered, made a profit and then this recession hit, finally closed the doors myself, now iam stuck with a ton of 50 parts, and truck parts that i have to put on ebay. Luckily i have a pretty secure job at te Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, but it still sucks not having something you worked hard for! One day ill get back to baller status...untill then iam just a baller on a budget! dont get discouraged!

I guess I didn't realize how bad things were getting. Being in the Army I don't have those worries. Everything comes full circle though. There's always a way.

To said You have done and lost is more than saying I wish I would have...I feel your pain..My father and I closed his buisness Custom Carpentry / Remodling 5 yrs ago...not that there isn't still work out there to be done. The Economy has made it tuff to compete with bottom line HACKS and non tax paying Amish. Quailty vs bottom line and the $ always wins...How do you explain to a person that your bid is solid and we put the money into the job....40yrs of local business, Union trained back when the UNIONS built homes. The answer is well the other price is $6000 less on a $30,000 job (and I'm figuring 5% profit biding No un forseen problems)....customer:Yeah I met the guy in a bar and he was full of paint speckles but he ashures me.....In the last 5yrs I had 3 different jobs...the last one paid so little I'm still feeling the effects almost a year latter. BRING ON CHANGE and 3.5% financing fixed for 45yrs. I'm getting in deeper fellas refi home loan...you bet!

Don't get down on yourself Lomax,I'm sure you did'nt make the decission to close the door's based soley on your performance,it's just really tough for alot of people now.I still have my shop going but not to the potential that I'd like too have it,and I know it's not me it's just the way this economy is at the moment.Just keep your head up and just remember there is gonna be a day of redemption where you and me and everybody else is gonna look back and just remember how tough it was and we still made it threw it..Good luck to ya on whatever venture you persue now,and keep your head up !!! Time's will get better..

Sorry to hear about your business. Things are tough everywhere. I haven't worked since 12 Dec and unemployment is jacking me around. Just today I came to the realization that I have got to reduce my fleet of toys to get some money to pay bills. I listed my big red first. Hopefully it gets better before I have to sell more, or worse.
