I have never ridden on actual dirtbike trails, but now I wanna get into it. I have done CR500 in the dunes and on 4x4 trails, but I think its too much bike for the trails. What would be a good bike to start on? I love 2 strokes and was thinking about a CR250 or a yz250, would that be too much?

I rode a 450x this weekend with a semi-auto clutch in it, worked great, but I couldnt go out of 2nd gear on the trails.

I would think either of the 250's would be a good bike. A 2 stroke 125 wouldn't be bad either.

CR 250. broader power than a 125, and more power for when you find a hillclimb.

125's are nice too, but have little power unless you are romping on it. which translates to drinking fuel.

yeah...I get 30-45 mins on a tank in my 125, it's eating me out of house and home:D but the 125 is an awesome bike.

Thats what happened with my friends yz125, after an hour or riding he had to add gas.

CR250 looks nice, how's the reliability and the clutch on it?
