I love the ford taurus model! Last was our 96 GL. Bought this 2001 SES. The last one we had an uninsured driver hit it and totaled it. Well finally got a new one, well new to me. Went for the test drive and it had a serious engine miss. Talked with the guy who was asking $2500 but took $2100. Now I know your thinking wtf you paid $2100 for a car that has bad miss!?! Well he *supposed to* have had the motor and tranny rebuilt. Motor does not look to be rebuilt from the outside but tranny has. Shift like a new one. Only has 100,500 miles. All leather, alarm system, after market radio with proper molding not some hack job and wired up for amps and sub (even though I do not use a sub...) I will add after market speaker for the amp and maybe a MACH unit if I can find one.

Well I got the car home day before yesterday and it sat till yesterday when I had a chance to take a look. Read codes and a miss fire on cyl 1. Hmm, lets see the condition of the plugs, wires, or maybe a vac leak. Well to my surprise the plug wires on the back were laying on the egr valve pipe that gets super hot. Guess what happend? Yup #1 plug was burnt and and stuck to the pipe...lol SO I ran to autozone at 8:30pm and ran home and had the boy come hold the drop light. We sat there fixing the wires. The back wire connector that keeps the wires clean and off stuff was melted and has seized 2 of the wires into it...lol I don't have picture of that as I dropped it in the gravel and couldn't find it. The fonr wires when I pulled it just left the connect on the plug. I don't think it was doing much of a connection to the plug. Got'em replaced, ran correctly, a little dielectric grease to the wires and cleanup shop. Started the car up and BAM! It was like a new motor. Took it for a test drive and the thing makes you sit back in your seat when you floor it. Needs an O2 sensor now becuase they ran it like that for so long but other then that she is a top runner again. Oh it is the 3.0 Vulcan not the tec. Fat guy with black shirt is me. Other guy was PO.

Becareful of the 01 Clitaurus. That year they prototyped windstar transmissions that were HELLA trouble in those. Valve bodies would constantly go. I have one that had 6 tranny's under factory warranty before I discovered this wonderful news when I went to a private transmission shop.
