Well, what was supposed to be one turned into six. We bid on a few deuces trying to win one and we ended up with six. Oops. We are going to sell five and keep one. I am pretty sure we can haul a significant amount of back up rides with one of these.

If you want to cut one loose I might be interested. It has to have a hard top and heat though.

I have never one a bid at a government auction. I always go too cheap just in case I do win everything I bid on.

WTF are you gonna do with that? lol Are they in Iraq? how you gonna get them home? drive them? ahahaa!!!

LonesomeTriZ
02-09-2009, 11:11 PM
I do want to sell at least five. I know most of them have hard tops. I am not sure which ones have heat though.

Be careful bidding. If you are not sure if a bid went through, it did. I leanred that the hard way, six times.

I am in Iraq, but the trucks are in GA. I have always wanted ONE deuce.

I'm broke too, but I might need one for the upcoming madmax like apocalypse we'll all be facing in the next 12 months. Good thing their multifuel motors.

How much?

i work on a miltary base and they can get old to see at times.

LonesomeTriZ
02-10-2009, 04:57 PM
Hey Billy. They are different prices. Let me know which one you like and I will tell you what features it has and the price.

Mad, I to work on base. But for some reason I never get itred of the military vehicles.

02-10-2009, 05:37 PM
yea i just get tired looking at them since i cant have one. we have hummers, deuces, mraps.

LonesomeTriZ
02-10-2009, 05:48 PM
I do not see a lot of deuce over here. It is a sad fact that they are an out dated vehicle. The LMTV's are going to be with the military for a while.

some day when I get some property I want one of those! Love the dueces!

I gotta know what a decent one goes for.

LonesomeTriZ
02-10-2009, 09:55 PM
They vary in price. I have seen some sell for $10,000 plus. I am not selling any of mine for any where near that. Just like anything else, it depends on a lot of things.

Let me know what you want to get. I've been looking to pick one up. I'll only be interestd in one if it's got a "whistler" turbo though. Seriously, let me know.

My foreman at Caterpillar owned 2 dueces, old jeep, and some amphibious 8 wheel drive beast, I know it was really rare and was supposed to be able to climb over a 36" vertical wall.

It was always funny yo come back from lunch and see a duece in the parking lot.

LonesomeTriZ
02-10-2009, 10:20 PM
No CDL required.

I do not know which deuce has what turbo. The least exspensive one will be $3,500.

3500?...reliable enough to drive 600 miles? lol.

and what type of mileage are we talking? 10 mpg or so? I'm not ragging, just calculating.

I used to drive M818's from Kuwait to Bahgdad and back for months at a time in 150+f weather every day. 4 a.m. to dark, day in, day out. The M818 is quite similar to the M35. Reliable? You bet your life. I did.

I have not and most likely will not see these trucks first hand. Melissa is going to be handling the sales of them. I bought five running trucks. As long as the fuel fliters are good and they sound good when picked up, I bet they would more than make a 600 mile trip. These trucks can run with four dead cylinders and barely any oil. They are very hard to kill, just as Fabio pointed out.

Oh and $3500 for a complete running deuce is more than a steal. Some of them are going to be selling for more. A few have more features.

The Goat
02-10-2009, 11:28 PM
well while it would be fun...I'm pretty sure my family would kill me.

and the 48mph top speed would make it impractical to even use JUST occasionally.

Damnit it would make a kick ass truck to hit some bars in....and if I ever needed to haul...anything. 10k pound capacity on flat ground... that's NICE.

LonesomeTriZ
02-10-2009, 11:33 PM
48MPH? Um, no. They can and do fo faster. As a matter of fact, you get lock out hubs and a gear splitter for the rear tandems and you can travel at high way speeds.

my bizzle... I read 48 mph cruising speed. kind of like how the old vehicles have 55 circled in orange on the speedo.

I did some reading just now. Really are some BADASS vehicles. It would be about the coolest thing in the world to drive around here.

I get called a redneck just driving a scion...I can only imagine if I was rolling in one of these.

The days of damaging suspension by putting a hot tub in the back would be done....

I wish I could view You Tube videos.

They are great trucks. I wish I could afford to keep all of them. I have all kinds of ideas for different biulds. I would like to bob one and turn it into a daily driver.

The Goat

Wish I had an extra five k. Oh it would he so sweet. Take up like four spots at the local bar. The best would be parking at Lsu.

LonesomeTriZ
02-11-2009, 03:19 PM
They fit in one parking space. They are also very fun to drive. In a non combat envirement that is.

The Goat
02-11-2009, 03:57 PM
They fit in one, but you can bet your ass I'd take up as many as possible, wouldn't want anyone to scratch it. Ha.

I've been looking, they are putting antiaircraft batteries on them in some parts of the world.

If I'm pestering ya tell me, how big are the cabs compared to say a fullsized truck? Being military no a/c?

Know what I just realized, we have a sucker rod and tank steel trailer out back with tires from an old deuce on it. It's 30 years old, tires are dry rotted to he'll and back, but they don't leak. Might have the mil axle on it too, never looked under.

LonesomeTriZ
02-11-2009, 04:38 PM
They are like a regular truck cab. They have more room long ways then a pick up. But I would say about the same leg room wise.

I always loved the duece when I was in too. I have also thought it would be very cool to have one as a POV to use as a toy hauler. Ideally, I would also like to have the 1.5 ton box trailer and the field kitchen trailer. How sweet a campsite could you set up at TF with that rig? LOL

LonesomeTriZ
02-11-2009, 07:58 PM
I can get you a kitchen trailer. Seriously.

I agree, I thought about bobbing a deuce and useing a trailer box.

The Goat
02-11-2009, 08:49 PM
I saw a pic earlier that looked sort of like a deuce...but fully enclosed all the way to the rear. like a larger excursion if you will.

LonesomeTriZ
02-11-2009, 09:21 PM
Um, okay. The are deuces with enclosed cargo beds.

The Goat
02-11-2009, 11:48 PM
no...I was saying the truck looked a lot like a deuce...but it was enclosed, and it had doors. saw it on the phone earlier...it's mirror black. I'll try to find it.

anyways... good luck with the sale, I'll stop cluttering up your thread.

LonesomeTriZ
02-11-2009, 11:50 PM
I am confused. I would like to see what kind of truck you are reffering to. Post it when you locate it.

LonesomeTriZ
02-11-2009, 11:51 PM
Oh, I forgot. This was not intended to be a for sale thread. I just like deuces and wanted to share my, um, luck. I figured others on here were into them as well.

Hey Goat, that is a five ton gun truck. There is a club made up of guys who crewed them in Veitnam. A lot of them went out and biult replicas of the gun trucks they served with. One of those trucks is in Columbus and I got to drive it in a perade the last time I was home.

The Goat
02-12-2009, 07:42 PM
pretty cool looking...and pretty sweet that you got to drive one in a parade.

ever seen the movie "Wages of Fear" it's an old black and white...it might even be in another language... but the movie is about four guys driving two deuces across...south america maybe? full of nitro with no safety suspension equipment.

It was a very cool movie...there's a wild ass german guy who shaves while he's driving and stuff.

LonesomeTriZ
02-12-2009, 07:53 PM
I have not seen that movie, but I would like to. I have been getting very excited about finally owning a deuce. But it looks as though we will have to sell all of them. The money is just not there.

LonesomeTriZ
02-12-2009, 08:08 PM
Here are some gn truck photographs. The first is from Veitnam. The second is from one of the club meetings. And the third is the one I get to drive some times.

The old timers that biult that truck get a kick out of drivng it to Burger King for lunch.

The Goat
02-12-2009, 08:11 PM
whats the towing ability of one of these things.

looking at the specs doesn't seem like it would be much...looking at the truck, seems like it would be A LOT

LonesomeTriZ
02-12-2009, 08:14 PM
The military under rates thier vehicles. They can tow a LOT more than what they are rated for. But to make them last the military sets very low limits for them.

The Goat
02-12-2009, 08:17 PM
I was looking more at the engine output...it doesn't seem like that much...however, with the gearing that beast has, it's prolly enough to tow a house.

I got a question...how the hell does that other guys deuce only have 288 hours on it. Aren't these things 30 plus years old?

fabiodriven
02-12-2009, 08:28 PM
Alot of 'em are just driven around base. Half mile here, two miles there...

LonesomeTriZ
02-12-2009, 09:24 PM
That is one reason. At some point in their 30 years of service that got a total over haul. Most military vehicles go through that. There is a base in Alabama that does it. The mojority of the drive train parts have little use on them. But, I also would not trust a 30 year old hour meter. I am sure they hours they show is far from acuate on most of them.

mike that owns HREatv his one uncle bought one of the old surplus late 70's dodge 4x4 trucks and it had only 6,000 miles on it.

sucks you have to sell them all. my one friend used to have a older duece that only had single wheels on the rear axles. it had a 292 chevy strait six with a auto tranny. it was a rare lighter duty model. it went threw a couple trannies and he got sick of it and sold it for $2000

LonesomeTriZ
02-12-2009, 09:39 PM
I do not think they ever came with a Chevy engine.
