View Full Version : The Band/Music suggestion thread.

Billy Golightly
02-10-2009, 08:53 PM
Lets have a thread where a person makes a recommendation for a band, or a particular song. Then the next person that replies actually checks out the first persons recommendation, and then they make a new recommendation of their own. Sort of like the movie quote thread.

You must include at least the Band/artists' name if just a general reccomendation.

You must include the title of the song and the artist if making a particular song reccomendation.

*IMPORTANT*: Do NOT include what genre the band, artist, or song is from. This'll let people have a more open mind when checking out and listening to songs and music. No one will be quite so quick to judge or listen to it with a notion of not liking it because its not of the type of music they typically like. You MUST have actually listened to the song reccomended before you or A song from the particular Artist or band recommended BEFORE you can recommend one!

My Recommendation: Apocalyptica - Path

Strapping young lad..... always a favorite.

Gizmachi..... Burn

Brad200X
02-12-2009, 06:18 PM
Gizmachi - Burn: Not bad, a little generic at times, but it takes you to some unexpected places as well. I know this may seem redundant, but I'm gonna recommend another Circus Maximus song. (I just can't get this band outta my head!) This is one of my favorite songs from them: Arrival of Love.

The Goat
02-12-2009, 07:58 PM
just downloaded it on my phone at work...definitely not what I was expecting.

might I suggest

say anything - alive with the glory of love.

[QUOTE=The Goat;707920]just downloaded it on my phone at work...definitely not what I was expecting.

Is that good or bad unexpected?

The Goat
02-12-2009, 08:07 PM
it was actually pretty good.... I typically go for things that are very hard...or kind of poppy.

This kind of reminded me of seperate ways by journey.

Brad200X
02-12-2009, 08:18 PM
That's kinda how I am. I was listening to a lot of Arch Enemy, Opeth and Dark tranquility, but when I heard these guys for the first time, Man it threw me for a loop! Really changed my view of metal.

The Goat
02-12-2009, 08:22 PM
just to reiterate

say anything - alive with the glory of love

their whole cd is actually pretty damned good.

I've been a Clutch fan since I saw Marilyn Manson with them in Tulsa at the Cains Ballroom in '95

Here is one that brought back memories of high school.
True Sounds Of Liberty (TSOL) Abolish Government
It was first recorded in the early eighties, its amazing how much things haven't really changed.

TSOL - sounds punk, pretty good stuff, I was diggin it. I'm assuming you like the Misfits, pretty good tunes dude.

Lamb of God - Grace. This is new stuff, wayyyyyy different sound compared to their last album, IMO this is 10 times better.

Bloodhound Gang - Pretty When I'm Drunk: Not the kind of music that I usually listen to, but I really enjoyed that. Pretty damned funny!

Steve Vai - For The Love of God

This is his masterpiece IMO.

Steve Vai - For The Love of God

For The Love of God has always been a big track for me, I've been a fan of Vai since I was about 15 and heard Bad Horsie. Big fan of shred.

Here's my recommendation(s) [I'm giving two because they're absolutely different genres]:

For the guys that like heavy stuff - Ensiferum "Into Battle" (album: Iron)

or

For the more mellow guys - The Chicharones "Breaking Point" (album: When Pigs Fly)

For the more mellow guys - The Chicharones "Breaking Point" (album: When Pigs Fly)

It was pretty good in a late 90's white-boy rock-rap kinda way. If i was still into that style of music i could see myself buying the cd.

How did we let this awesome thread die? Back to the task at hand...

Lamb of God is friggin sweet! Set To Fail is very Pantera-ish IMHO. Alright, here's my suggestion: Angra - Waiting Silence. Here's a link to it on the 'Tube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99izXhZSZws

These guys are pretty epic lol. The solo about 3/4 of the way through still gives me shivers.

Billy Golightly
05-08-2009, 08:59 PM
Angra - Waiting Silence Hmm, different, but good. I like it, other than the lyrics dont really seem to match the music (But thats just my opinion). I liked it a lot more when it was just the instruments playing. Nice suggestion none-the-less.

My suggestion:

Hans Zimmer - The Kraken (Play it loudly, especially the intro, hehe)

My suggestion:

Hans Zimmer - The Kraken (Play it loudly, especially the intro, hehe)

This was good, I love this instrumental stuff from the sound track to movies, sometimes they come out with some really hard-hitting stuff [Kinda like James Horner with the 'Titanic' soundtrack]

I suggest...

Kittie- Brackish
(band)- (song)

Russell 350X
05-09-2009, 04:32 PM
