You will be disappointed! The warrior is a very layed back out dated machine. I just spent all day Sunday going between my 85 250R, a 2001 Warrior, and a 2002 Raptor. We kept switching off all day and after a short while no one wanted to ride the Warrior. It runs OK, but the Suspension is weak, motor flattens out quick, and the steering is unresponsive. You can do better is all I am trying to say. Good luck in your choice though.

for some reason when i rode my cousins 2001 warrior it seemed kinda heavy to me.

This warrior is gonna be for the whole fam 2 ride 2 sooo. If it doesnt have enough power or its to heavy i can always buy after market parts FMF has muffler systems. I could change the suspension any time. Theres a lot of things i could do to make it run faster!

Hey Manny, if you are going to put that much money down on a new Warrior, you should reconsider spending it on something else. I know a guy who used to own a 2001 model, and he said it was a real dog (it sucked). He sold it and got a 2001 Honda 400EX, which he likes a LOT better. He said the ex beats the warrior in every aspect. The only thing better about the warrior was the fact that it had reverse. Just thought I'd let you know. He told me this when I told him I was thinking about a warrior. )

Like i said i can alwayz buy after market parts for it and etc, so it will go a lot better.

See wut sux i already got my trike (82-250r). ANd so my family is to scared of it they say its to powerful for them and all they do is just put around in first gear. Its not good for the R the R is made to go fast lol. And i think the 400ex would be to much for them to, the warrior im thinking is perfect and plus it can top out at 60 which is fine I guess i mean the warrior is just made to cruise around in and i got my R which is made to haul @$$ lol well ttyl.

rode a warrior this weekend, older one but still alright. One thing i didnt like about it is it was ONLY electric start (died on the trail and had to be towed home) I didnt like how it turned very wide, other then that it had some nice power (aftermarket cam and pipe and some other stuff) Nice cart but i would go for something bigger if your going to spend that much

The Warrior is a great machine for the whole family to ride. I rode a '90 & '96 for a week and they were great so I dunno what you guys are talking about. The suspension was a little soft but thats what I like, The steering was precise and had a reletively small turning radius. Their motors are dead reliable (similar to a Honda) and there are plenty of aftermarket companies for them. You can't go wrong with a Warrior...sure its not the most powerful, sporty, fastest machine but its loads of fun.

well since it's for your family i'd go for it. no way in hell i'd buy a new one though, u can get a used one for 2 grand eeeeeeeeaaaaaasssssyyyy. last months dirt wheels did a big article on how they suped one up and made it better but basically said how out dated it was. it's definitely not worth the money new. i think their supposed to be re-designing it soon. so if it was for u i'd say no, but for some sissy family members i'd say yes. :-P

My wife has a 1999 warrior that we bought new. It's a fine bike. Goes plenty fast too. It's no recer but for a family ride I think that it would be hard to beat. It's a great bike to putt around on & with reverse it's easy for a smaller family member to move if they get it stuck. I agree with the others though, I would try to buy used if you can. Just check around first & see what you can find. Good Luck! :-D

I'd look for a 96-98 Warrior.

Manny55
07-08-2003, 10:42 PM
why a 96-98 warrior???? I acuately just looked at a 400ex and they got a pretty good deal on one so i think i am going to get a 400ex. But why should i get a 96-98 warrior instead of newr.

warrior is so outdated. 400ex's are going for under 4 grand used and will be in excellent condition, can't go wrong.

most warrios have pullstart! and elecrtic start. if u thikn the 400 ex is to fast for them try the 300ex or the 250ex

Why a 2003/2004 model?? They are all the same from 1988 to 2004. For $700 more, you could get a Z with liquid cooling, 28 horsepower (compared to the warrior's 16) and has a much better reverse procedure. Not to mention looks and handling, the warrior is OUTDATED.

i dont know if you would consitter going smaller or not but i bought my wife a 2000 blaster, she's never riden beforeand she's SLOW but its never fouled a plug, its light weight ,easy to manuver and not too fast.there not made to rev like your R but it will if you want it to,its a lot of fun................i don't hate quads,i'm just partial to trikes

...GOD, talk about a post that has far outlived its life ..... The funny thing is, Manny never even bought a Warrior ... lol. I'm seriously thinking about splitting this into a couple of different topics because its strayed way to far off the subject.
