Im hoping someone on here might be able to help me with this. I picked up this 1984 Ford F150 the other day. It has a Inline 6 300 with a 4 speed. Ive been working on finding all the little problems that are causing it to run rough. I read from several places that these engines are pretty sensetive to vaccum leaks. Ive found several, from rotted hoses, hoses that the ends are too loose, duct tape patches, etc. Ive got it all figured out and fixed except for these 2. The top one just has that little bit of hose coming off it, and the bottom one (kinda hiding there behind the one hose) had duct tape covering it. I cant seem to find where either of these connect, and the manual isnt much help. Do they connect to each other, or somewhere else?

i believe that the top one goes to a fuel canister that keeps gas from spilling in a turn over.... try connecting them together and see what happens
Usually, there is a sticker on the hood or core support, that has a diagram of the vacumn line routing.
Sticker is usually white in color about 3x4 in size.

There is a sticker (manual shows the same thing), but of course the only lines it doesnt show on there are these 2. I looked at my friends truck (same thing but with auto tranny), but it has a different setup and doesnt have these lines.

Have you visited any F150 specific forums? Im sure you would get an answer quickly. If it were a Ranger, I could help ya, but I dint know too much about F150s. Guess is the top one is a vac line that connects to the breather housing or PCV valve, but not sure on that.

That top one looks like a breather line to me too. Maybe a breather on the bottom of the factory air filter assembly?

I'm 90% sure your right on that. I had a 79 and that is where that hose went.
I can't remember where the other one goes.

My 91 F150 was having the same problem. Someone stated above that 2 hoses run to a canister (Looks like a 2 liter tin can) and it rusted out around the seems causing a leak. Just put the 2 hoses together and see if it runs better
