Im a deisel mechanic and this has been a pet project of mine and
my brother Marty. 1991 Peterbilt Daycab. started as a well worn out
working truck, and over the years has been used less and less, but
was still a great truck and we couldnt part with it. so its getting some
love. It has over 1.9 Million Miles on the odometer, but the entire drivetrain
has been gone thru, and is mechanically sound, just wasnt as pretty as it
could have been until now... We keep telling ourselves that it isnt a show
truck, but in the end it may turn out that way. Just wanted to show a pic of it currently. we dont have any pics of it when it was a working truck, but it was hammered. hadnt been polished since it left the factory.

Engine is a 3406B CAT, turned up to 635HP with about 120K since its out of
frame rebuild. every internal part is new even the crankshaft. many external
parts have been replaced or rebuilt as well. Still have to detail and paint the
engine. No more CAT Yellow, its gonna be all black, and polished aluminum, depends on how motivated I am at that point. HH

1st pic is it stripped down, 2nd is of it coming back together. HH

Wow HH, very nice looking rig ya got there. One hell of a wheelbase on that bad boy as well, which could hold one hell of a sleeper.. Any plans on putting one on?

Awesome. I used to own and operate a 1986 pete 359 extended hood with a 425 Cat and a 15 over. I love Peterbilts and would absolutely love to do that as well. Great job.
Here is a pic of my old truck.

nice rides dcreel! I love the old petes, our company has 12 of them,
all petes, nothing else. took a long time to get to that point, but im
loving it. they are so easy to work on vs any other truck out there.
this one is the oldest of the bunch, but its earned its keep, and its
going to stay around for a while longer.

The truck I miss is the 85 pete with a twin turbo Cummins. That thing
was an animal. Baddest truck on the road for a LONG time. It was
around and working up until about 3 years ago. Its just sitting in a feild
being forgotten now. Someone is going to find it and have a nice surprise
when they open the hood. I have all the Cummins Twin Turbo parts sitting
in a shed for the day I get to build my own truck. This one will be pretty
much mine when my brother gets bored with it though. HH

Here is my uncles 119" hood 1980 359 that he put $15K into at Joplin Peterbilt. Aerodyne sleeper top, louvered hood, spotlights on either side of the windshield cowl, paint job, wood floor, full fenders. It has a 400 cummins big cam in it with all the go fast parts in it. It has the adjustable timing in it from the twin turbo Cummins. It had a switch that would advance and retard the timing, bigger injectors and turbo.. It was throwing down about 700 hp. About a month after getting it back from Peterbilt he was sideswiped on us 36 in Missouri by a 4th time drunk driver and turned it over.
Heres a pic of his large car

HH, If your truck turns out like your tiger, it will be an award winner for sure. When is the next trike project?

Gotta love the big trucks!

Nice looking rigs.

My brother is trying to talk me into getting back into trucking. He thinks theres gonna be some money to be made with this stimulis package thing. He wants to get 3 or 4 tri-axle dumps and get into some road work.

Think thats gonna happen?

Sorry to step on your thread HH. Nice looking project!

While we're showing trucks, heres my '06 Columbia. It was sold by my company, so Ill be in a new(er) truck tomarrow! Id like a Kenworth W900, but Im sure Id sing a different tune when it comes to backing into Baltimores ancient docks.

HH, that is a nice color scheme. Any sound clips of that exhaust?

This is one of the trucks I use to drive over here. I am KW fan myself, but I also respect Petes as well. I hope to afford a nice truck when I get home. Hopefully something old.

Took some more pics yesterday. Almost done.
Still need to tint the windows, get the signs on the
doors, and build the full length deckplate.

The engine dosent photograph too well, but looks pretty
good in person. Im sick of working on it. has too many
wheels. HH

I like the look of it. No extra bling or lights. The exhaust note must be addicting.

That is awesome. My uncle used to own a m35 like the one pictured above. Nothing like a big truck thats for sure. We got a old ww2 cckw353 out back. For those that dont know what it is its a goverment issused deuce in a half from world war 2. Gas powered straight six, smokes like your aunt sally. Still really cool though. Been in the family basically since new. theres nothing better than big trucks.
