I'm looking to replace the 305 in my 86 Trans Am with a new crate engine. Has anyone done one? What rebuild company did you use?

I've been out of the hotrod thing for a few years and I have done this conversion before. Its not a direct change. Seems like the dipstick form a 305 to a 350 are on different sides so it causes you to need different exhaust manifold, if I remember correctly.

I have toured the Marshall engine factory I would not buy one of there engines. I'm sure all reman engien companies do it. If a engine scored 1 cylinder they would only bore that cylinder hone the rest so your engine would have one .010 over cylinder and the rest standard, they would do the same with vavles and such. They do give good warranties that they seem to uphold really well.

Jasper has a nice stage II engine line. Thanks for the lead.

Seems like a good deal. The motor has a hell of a torque curve too....should pull like a freight train!

About 6 years ago, I bought a crate GM Target Master 350. Bolt my accessaries on and go. Motor runs strong but I believe thats because I never just bolted it in. lol.
Bought a big Crane cam and lifter set and a 600 Edelbrock to feed it.

I had a 1980 Chevy pickup that someone had put a Goodwrench 350 in. The motor was great, the truck was junk.
