oil in magneto on 250x

I just got a 92 250x project. It lost the chain and busted the cover(lucky, not the case) over the mag. When I pulled it, there was oil in there. Should it be there or not. It looks like this area is not sealed but I'm not sure.

yes it's normal for oil to be in there.
