So i bought an 05 honda trx 450r. really low hours starts first kick everytime runs good at idle and reving it up..when i ride it low throttle runs perfect...when i get past half throttle it runs like crap. feels like its cutting out if i try to get a wheelie going it does the same thing. Its like when its under a load is when it does it..i dont know what it could be. i tried a plug and then thought maybe it was too low octane fuel tried octane boost still doing the same thing.
any help?!?!?!?!
Thanks alot cody

Have you checked the jetting? Sounds the needle and/or main may need adjusting.

Does It have a lid on the airbox? If so, take It off and see If It runs better. If thats the case, the main jet Is to big to leave the lid on. If you can leave It off your all set. If you ride In water, drop the main jet down.

ok so it finally dried out enough to go ride..i took my air box lid off and it sure sounded funny but ran a heck of alot better without cuttin out and such.. so my main is too big?? i have a uni filter on it now..if i ran a K&N would it breath enough better that i could still run the airbox lid without it cuttin out??

Unless you like to bash through big puddles at speed or cross deep streams I would just ride with the lid off.

my buddies 05 had the same problem. ended up putting a 50 pilot and a 185 main in it. no lid, uni filter, yoshi exhaust. runs good now. he bought it used from a dealer running like crap, they couldn't figure it out.

this bike has me confused...the first time i took the lid off i ran it for about 10 min it ran great...i went riding the other day took the lid off before i went out about 30 min into riding it started boggin real bad...i put the lid back on it and it ran better..seems like with the lid off it runs good until it gets hot then it runs worse than before... Iam stumped
