i have a 1999 polaris scrambler and the 4 wheel drive kicks in when it want and i have checked out the wire to it and they look good so what could it be
i tried to look for answers on the internet and that gave me nothing

if there is metal shavings in the front hub it will do that to change the front hub oil and try that my 98 scrambler did that too and that fixed mine if i remember right the magnet in there pickes it up and engages it

Not changing hub oil, is the worst for them, But, The coil gaps do get knocked out from time to time, Most often i find is the armature plate gets a wear groove in it, and becomes magnetized, causing it to lock the cam up and hence put it in 4wd, (least on the old style hubs)

ya i had took it a part and had gunk all in side looks like i better seal it up good

Yeah, change the front hub oil regularly, ATF.

ive got a '99 2wd 400....you guys have much luck keeping the axle bearings in yours???or better yet finding a used axle and carrier??
