 I have a 85 350x that I want to really beef up. I also have a yfz450 that I have toyed with the idea of putting that engine in the 350x, but I really don't want to trash my already working yfz450. So I have looked through tons of threads and seen someone touched upon this subject on a 200 with a 9:1 compression ratio but if memory serves me right the 350x has a 8.5:1, which should work for a turbo. Now I have also read that the 400ex and 350x head pipes are really close to the same except you need to do just a little bit of cutting to get it to fit. I know about EFI and rigging up that stuff. I'm just wondering if it was possible or would a CR500 engine fit?? Just what different engines can you cram in it??? Any input will help out.

would be a cool idea but get ready for your home work.

really cool idea, just doesnt seem very ridable. On the 400ex you have a frame and a whole front end that protect the turbo from gettin hit, but on a the 350x you wouldn have anything. Maybe build a cage around it?

I know we have all heard of that guy wanting to turbo charge something that no one else has. Now I am not saying for sure that I will go through with this, I am merely just weighing out my options. I am also thinking about electric start. I never could start that thing very easily (120lb.) I have a fair amount of knowledge on turbos and just about anything you can think of. I will post some pics when I leave work of the bike. I just want it to be as fast as my YFZ450 and maybe a little more.
