as you probably know by now general motors filed bankruptcy this morning.we the citizens of this country have infused 60,000,000,000 into this company so far to avoid bankruptcy.guess what, didnt help.the company was only worth 80,000,000,000 to begin with.this once great company is now government run.lets see how well your president and congress can run it.i have a bad feeling that we will be on the hook for much more.

there is alot of exemptions with farming like f350 and duramax desils and 3500 dodges, becouse of the weight they dont follow under the same perameters as commuting vehicles do, I still have my customized f-150 on our farm insurance...:naughty:

well all manufactures started going south when they made 40 differnt models that changed every 2-3 years making parts obsolete and expensive for minor repairs.

they should be like the 60s - 80's

1 truck line
1 light truck line

big car

medium car

little car

not 20 truck lines

10 light truck lines now bordering on fullsize trucks

no big cars (whats the fat people going to drive?) im not driving a small car!

50 medium sized cars

5000 small cars

and the sad part is most of those models are junk and barely held together

not trying to say im baised but ford has had the best run

1 truck line the f series

rangers

the panther platform (crown vic/towncars)

medium cars taurus/ 500 now

small escort/ focus now

and just 2 sub lines mercury and lincoln, wich in all honesty merc needs to go!

the f series still continues to outsell the rest

the ranger is allright

they were stupid to get rid of the panther platform

dunno enough about the 500 platform but almost all the new fords run that platform now mercury and lincoln included

the focus is the same

When I trade trucks in about 3 years, I am going back to a Ford! The Chevrolet Colorado that I have is alright, but I miss my Ford Ranger, better gas mileage, better air conditioning and didnt need a head job every 50,000 miles like the colorados do.

to be honest I love my ford truck it has almost 180k on it and it still runs like a champ.... even holds up to my driving wich I drive it like a indy car on crack! lol its been a great truck and if it breaks down now It wouldnt hurt my feelings to put a new motor in it or trans, hell if its held up this long to my abuse then why not? plus it gets wicked awesome gas mileage, hauls ass easily and just plain looks badass why change?

Ford is the only way to go anyway. My '94 4.6L T-Bird has 300k+ and the only thing I had to replace was the trans valve body. It gets 30mpg with the summer tires too! (with a V-8, mind you... and I wouldn't call her slow.) Hell, our '86 Crown Vick had almost 400k on it. It is a shame about Chevy though... my first street legal set of wheels was a '91 2500 short bed. Really good truck.

thats not an issue......heard of that 400 horse mustang that gets over 100MPG?

hes been all over the news lately, hes starting a company to start retrofiting vehicles with this technology....

his MPG was documented on a trip to vegas and back, (from ohio) he beat the trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro outta the car the whole way and stayed around 100MPG.

lol...

I wouldn't own a gm vehicle newer than 1980 anyways.... sorry this doesn't change a whole lot.

the problem is and always been providing a product that consumers actually want while making a profit on it. sorry...but a lot of companies seem to have forgotten that.

the problem is these dumb ass gooks dont get it. they launch a nuke at ANY country, and the rest of the world is going to transform them from a IS to a WAS before they have their victory march.....

and what does an underground nuke test consist of? i would think it would leave such a nasty crater in the ground it would make more sense to blow it above ground.

and you'd be right. Compressed matter will only amplify the explosion's initial boom. Same principle as a firecracker in an anthill vs on the surface.

The diffrencis that nukes have energy to spare... Hence the reason eye witness accounts say fat man and little boy were detonated in the air. Spreads the impact over a larger area... And the damage is so bad it doesn't matter the energy that could have beengained by it being under ground doesn't matter.

In 1995 I went to the S.A.E. Convention in Detroit.(Society of Automotive Engineers)These are the "Be all end all" of car genious's mind you. Heavily, overpaid for thier rediculous ideas..............
I saw 6-8 "engineers", Gathered around a newly introduced 1996 Olds Aurora, with that 4.6 Northstar engine. They had those White Lab coats on, pocket protectors........

They were Bragging........
"This is the car of the future! It will need no work for over 150k miles"
They were really proud of this.

I looked in the engine compartment and said....................WTF?
"How the Eff we supposed to work on this thing?"

They all looked at me like the 18 year old I was, and replied....
"This car wont need work"  LMFAO

3 years later in the GM dealers (Out of warranty no less):welcome:
We were giving customers $2800 estimates to fix a gushing oil leak that required pulling the engine, usually resulting in broken crank carrier bolts that made the job more pricey......:w00t:

I told them in 1995 they were foolish IDIOTS.
But I guess that didnt sink into them.

So a customer who spent 30k on a new car, has a $3000 oil leak just after the warranty expires.shens

I suppose I shouldn't talk, I just blew a toyota engine with 140k on it, but that was due to a massive intake of water.

There aren't many things I would trust with my life or money. The glock and the toyota engine is one of them.

Then again I would have taken my 97 grand am across country in a heartbeat.

I have a 2007 Silverado classic that is basically like a 1978 truck under the hood. It may be because its a work truck with no options what so ever, but it is extremely simple. Its just the 4.3 V-6 also, which may make it simpler. Its one of the reasons I bought it. I use to have a 78 and 79 F-150 when I was young and did all the work myself. Then had two Frontiers and they where a whole other story. We spent a whole weekend changing an exhaust gasket once. Mind you neither me or my father or pros.

I have owned about every brand out there, and GM has been the best for me with Nissan 2nd. We have an 8 year old Cavalier that we bought new that just wont quit. Yes the paint is coming off now, and the dash is cracked, but other than that its perfect. It has 200k on it, with nothing ever replaced. AC is still ice cold, never rode smooth so thats not an issue.

To me GM's issue has always been cheap interiors and features. Like solid plastic door panels and dash boards, power window motors, and cheap switches. For me the transmissions and motors have always been bullet proof. Which works for me because I always buy the most stripped out model possible. My truck has rubber floors, AM/FM, and Manual everything. Sorry, I am cheap.

My Accord was the worse by the way. It had 115k miles on it when we bought it. We bought it from a friend of my dads. He was elderly and had a stroke which messed with his coordination making it too hard to drive a manual for him. It was in pristine shape.

After about 6 months the A/C stopped working. Then the cooling fans about 2 months later. Was told it was a fan relay, replaced all of them, that didn't help. We had to manually wire the fans to the battery with a toggle switch mounted to the dash to cut them on. They were only needed if the car was idling for a while. Then it started to shutter when it was cold out. I would be going down the road fine and all the sudden it would start shuttering like someone was turning the ignition on and off. We traded it in at that point.

well one reason why I plan on hanging onto my lincolns... as they are dead nutz reliable...

91 towncar 215k ran perfect then sold
92 towncar 280k ran perfect then sold to a freind who drove it over to 320k then wrecked...
99 towncar 180k ran perfect then sold
98 towncar 129k runs perfect still own
99 towncar 340k picked up recently runs better then most new ones! nothing replaced!
97 f-lincoln 179k killin it all day everyday

all these vehicles have the same drivetrain... wich has proven itself to be better then even the old drivetrains of the past

plus they all get great gas mileage including my truck

now.... If GM didnt mess with the 305/350 th400/700r4 combos and used that drivetrain in combo in all the stupid cars that had the screwed up 4100 series engines and crap like that they may have been around longer.

and if chrysler didnt go with that stupid cab forward sh1t they did for so long... I might have considered something from them....though I did own a 01 dodge 1500 x cab sport wich was a damn fine truck.

if you can sell for 23 sell for 23 or at most 25 to give ppl who like to feal good about trading ..... The interior was ok, except for all the rattles and squeaks that would remind you of a 93 Caravan, thankfully I unloaded the car before the ever popular block crack came to... Thing wore tires terribly, no matter how many alignment... Wait, I hated this car... I need a beer... But I do love my cherokee!
