wow. that is sweet.
what is the camo?

skiffy
06-06-2009, 06:14 PM
Advantage Wetlands is the camo. Under the fenders has been sprayed with rhino liner.
Rear tires are 27 Maxxis Zilla's , the front is a 27 inch maxxis buckhorn.

I will get some action pics up next time I go out. This machine will go wherever I want it to go. I did notice that in deep water that the thing will sputter and occasionally die. It will start right back up. It will NOT do it if I get on the throttle at high rpm's. Any idea's on how to seal this up. I know it is not the the air intake. What electrical is causing this problem.

Thanks

Man I'm not much of a ute guy anymore, but that thing is BITCHIN! What did you do about the offset of the front wheel to get it centered up? Thing is awesome looking, I bet it'll tractor around through anything.

skiffy
06-06-2009, 08:26 PM
It was only off 3/4 in. so I just put in a spacer to center it.

the wheel is 2+5 ( 7 inch wide) offset just like the rears. I did put on 1.5 spacers on the rear just to give it a widder stance.
factory is 3+6 ( 9 inch wide) so the 2+5 kept it centered. The 3/4 inch difference on the front is due to the thicker aluminum wheel.

Took it through the wood the other day. This stuff is tough! Nothing scratched through it. After I repair the fenders on the 1984 big red I will clad it too.

Wow that looks amazing. Is that a winch mounting plate I see on the front rack? You said the rear tires are 27's, but what does the actual height measure?

What is the camo? Is that camo clad vinyl, custom painted or what? Also where did you get your wheels and what offset. Looks great and thanks for the info.

The front mounting plate is for a Q.R.D. (quad recovery device ) I will be putting on soon, a.k.a. winch.
I built it for hunting and to show the 4x4 quad guys up in the woods.

thanks for the compliments.

did you lift the front suspension some how?

That Big Red looks incredible!

Is the kick start lever installed?
Exactly what size are the front and rear tires? height, width, rim...

skiffy
06-08-2009, 03:00 PM
I lengthened the front fork tubes 1.5 inches for the front tire to fit and raised the rear shock bracket 1.5 inches for the rear. The 27's give it tons of ground clearance. And yes the kick start is behind the side cover.

did you get a kit for the camo or just a sheet of it?
permanent or removable?

skiffy
06-08-2009, 07:59 PM
The camo clad was the sheet and was the removable. It is the thicker and easier to apply. The permanent is not as durable and is more difficult to apply.

thats good to know.

Did one 4x5 sheet do it or did it take more?
Thanks

Uh - I think this is not a Big Red - but rather a Big Camo!

Super nice job - looks really sick. I like the wheel choice!

OMG that is the BEST big red i have seen in along time. The camo and those rims give it a modern badass look. I am all about it! Where did you get those rims if you dont mind me asking. This trike has a great look and stance to it.!:welcome:

i don't care what anyone says that is the nicest big red i have ever seen, i really want some big tires for mine but getting it running is the top priority, i think we need some vids of it. your electrical shortage can be fixed with dielectric grease on all connections and spark plug boot

what kind of rims are those? and props on the big red. its beautiful! should call it the Big Camo 250ES lol

my buddy is wanting to know, just exactly how did you lengthen the front forks 1.5in?

skiffy
10-07-2009, 12:36 AM
I tig welded a 1.5 inch length of pipe in the fork for the front. The wheels and tires came from mudthrowers.com. I choose the zillas for the tires because of the light weight.

I just put in a high comp. piston and a web cam in her to wake up the motor. I will let you know how she runs after I get it back together.

I love putting the big bad 4x4 quad guys to shame with an old school trike.

cool, so just weld and grind welds down smooth.
thanks skiffy. i'll pass it on.

skiffy
10-07-2009, 08:57 PM
I tig welded mine. I would avoid stick welding the fork tubes. They are not very thick.

Mondex you wonder if his camo is coming off I bet, me too. I want to know if the permanent camo wrap is more durable to peeling than the removable product. Still love the camo look and since I will more than likely have two in red then one in camo is a must but I dont want to regret the cost and the work.

I'd like to know if that camo wrap is still holding up, I'd love to have one of my BR's done up in camo! But like said before I don't want to regret the cost or the work. Has anybody considerd having the plastics dipped? Wonder houw much that would cost?
