I'm planing a 12 hour drive next weekend and want to take two atv's with me in a 4x8 trailer. Can i stand them on the grabber and haul em that way? Will i have to drain any fluids? Whats the safest way to strap them, ect?

I just did that with my ATC110 and my Tecate last week. It was kinda hairy, but do-able. I only drove about 1/8th of a mile and it was nerve racking. If they had been tied properly (At least 4 tie downs a trike) it may have been OK. My trikes don't leak when they're up like that.

Dammit!

Not a problem if you tie them down right. My liquid R leaked out a bit of coolant last time I did it though so watch outn for that.

can you put them on the trailer sideways and rest the front wheels on the siderails?

Standing them up does not hurt them, as long as you dont have to much fuel in them to leak out.

I have traveled with a LOT of bikes on end, they all come out okay. Just make sure to strap them correclty.

I wished I could find a picture of how I haul machines. I put 10-15 on a trailer on their backs and had NO problem ( Well we found a oil leak on one ).

Can you attach a photo of the trailer? I made my 4x8 Harbor Freight trailer into a 6x9

by running two 9 ft steel frame pieces on top of the orginal frame and then added 6ft cross members. Then I put wire mesh over that.

I just traveled last weekend to Hatfield McCoy trails with my wife 250EX and my 350X standing upright on their grab bars - 11 hours each way - no issues whatsoever! Not an issue if secured right.

Im gonna do a "test load" tomorrow evening and see what works best. I might try and sqeeze a 50cc quad on too. My biggest worry is all that weight on 8in. trailer tires. I guess i need to check the load rating on them tomorrow too.

I'd like to see pics of that Harbor Freight trailer extension.

Just make sure you have the correct air pressure in the tires and the wheel bearings are in good shape. Those little 8" tires are turning many many times faster the your tow vehicle tires. I alway replace those small trailer tires with bigger tires if possibe. Seen to many times trailers with those small tires sitting by the road side in need of a tire.

When you get there make sure you check all of the fluids.

we did this in the back of my shortbox for 250 miles and it was fine i wouldnt be worried about it as long as you have plenty of tie downs. Another thing we did on my 4x8 is put them both on sitting normally but put your buddy's four wheeler half on the trailer and half on the tounge. (make sure its strapped down good and the tires arent close to the ground
