I have a 250X that is in need of much help. When I changed oil in it I found a lot of metal in it so I decided to move up to a 350X motor. I got one off E-bay and am now in the process of installing it. My question is about the electrical. The motor came with just the stator for electrics. I have all the electrical for the 250 motor. Can I make the 350 motor work with the 250 CDI, coil, and other electrics or do I need to get all the 350 stuff.
Thanks for any info. I already got quite a bit from other posts on how to make the top back frame mount. also, what kind of power does a 350X put out. I have a Yamaha Warrior that is a 350. Is it about the same power?
I am sure I will have more questions as I go
Thanks
Mike

IMHO, a 350x will kill a warrior

the 250x electronics can work if you witch the 2 wires in the small plug at the black box but you will now have a rev limiter....350x box's don't have a rev limiter.

i would just look for a 350x harness and black box if i were you

I actually would like a limiter. This bike will be for others to ride at my place. I would have junked it but whoever had it before the idiot I got it from dumped a ton of money into it. I went through the Dennis Kirk book and found over $3000 in upgrades and that is not counting the aftermarket A-arms.
I have the Honda service manual for the 250X but I need to get the 350X one. I'll have to see if I can download it.
Thanks
Mike

Also, the 250 had a Roost Boost hooked into it. Any idea what that changes and should I keep it.

looks like the 250 kicker hits the 350 cases. Anyone got a 350X kicker they want to get rid of.
Also, is there any other kicker that will work?
Thanks
Mike

the thing i started doing is using the 250x kicker shaft and kicker on 350x motors.

they are stronger and work fine when you swap all the parts

This project has kind of stalled but I got a little time in today. I want to use the 250 electric because I'm broke. I think I got most of it figured out but am unsure of the pulse generator. The 250X has only one wire (Bu/Y) coming from the generator but the 350X has 2 (Bu/Y and G/W). The 250X also has a reverse switch but I think I can just leave it unhooked. Do I hook the blue/yellow wires together and leave the green/white unhooked or does it get hooked to ground.
Also, this roost boost. What is it. When I took it apart I did not pay enough attention to where it was. I would guess I can just leave it out. I don't think it replaced anything but was just an add on.
Thanks for any help
Mike

roost boost does NOTHING

he wasn't lying when he said you should toss it as long and hard as possible into the woods...

unless you sold it to someone gullible enough to think it works

im using the 250x box on mine and i think youll never hit the rev limiter on a 350x anyway unless your in neutral. im curious about the 300ex aftermarket cdi boxes though im pretty sure they will work.

How is your pulse generator wired with the 250X CDI?

i can bounce my 350x motor off a 250x rev limit all day.

if you have a 350x black box and a 250x harness then just swap the 2 wires in the small black box plug then no worries about a rev limit.

Well, back at this project after a long break. I got it running but it smoked badly so it sat for about a year. Just got it bored and a 10.25 weisco piston put in it. It runs with the choke on but only idles with it off. It must be way lean. It has a PE 38 mm Keihin carb with a 48 piolet and a 160 main jet. I dont know much about jetting. since it idles should i leave the piolet alone of should I go up a little? also, any sugestion on where to start with the main jet? or should I look for a different carb.
Thanks
Mike

So I figured the 160 main was not worth anything to me and if I screwed it up I wouldn't be out anything, so, I took it to work and drilled it out to .067. Wow, I think it is right on! This thing runs great. Time to finish it up!
