Hey y'all, I am new to the page but have come here for some advice on setting the timing on a 84 200x. I am about to have the top end rebuilt and I am debating on weather or not I want to assemble it my self or let an expert do it and pay for for something that I could probably do my self. So any tips, tricks, advice, or any kind of help would be much appreciated! I do have an owners manual but it seems it seems to leave out some pointers that maybe could be a big help. Thanks!
use a timing light to match the spark timing to the "f" (fire) mark in the engine. most people dont know to do that and u lose a lot of performance if the spark is retarded or advanced. if you want to (or can) spend some $, you can take it to a mech and have him do it for u, but a timing light (if u already have one) is (imo) the best way to go
