hey my name is tony i just got 175 that is in pretty good shape, but im havin a problem with it. i think the clutch is slipping. when the back is up on a stand it will work fine, but when there is any resistance it will bog down. any one have any ideas what this could be, also while tinkering with it i noticed that there was a open vent? just after the boot connecting the carb to the jug on the jug side.... should it be open? im very new at working on this kind of stuff.

That’s for the fuel pump. It has a fuel pump that operates off crank pressures. Mines capped off.

Your bog sounds like it may be lean, not a clutch issue. With that hole open, it would be lean. The clutch is an auto clutch, there is going to be slippage at lower RPMs. You do need to adjust it periodically though. You’ll need 2 wrenches. Take the side cover off that your crank oil into. You’ll see 2 nuts against each other, loosen the top 1. Tighten the bottom until it just starts to drag. Tighten the top 1 against the bottom 1. Put it back together and test it out.
