Hey guys ive got a 1984 200es and having trouble with it not running right , here it goes It idles ok and will rev up but when you put it in gear and go after less that half throttle it starts cutting out but doesn't die .lve gone all thru the plug,carb and tank all clean .adjusted the throttle needle down too still runs rough any ideas would be appreciated ...im stumped ....and could it be the exhaust plugged ?
I'm new here never replied before but you should be able to put your hand behind the muffler and rev it up to see if its plugged. I had the same trouble with my 200x and it was my kill switch was worn out. I had to hold it still with my thumb wile riding. You could test the coil and plug wire also.
It's possible the exhaust is plugged. But if the exhaust were plugged, I'd think it would only run for a minute and then stop. I'd check the points, I can't remember but I think if you pull the CDI cover -under it is the advance, it has a "ring" with a couple of magnets. Anyway I once had a 200S that was doing something similar and it turned out I needed a new one of those. Make sure that where the air intake tube is connected to the frame- that the frame isn't clogged with mud or mud dobbers. I've had that situation as well.
