I recently purchased a 1984 200ES Big Red. The racks and headlight frame/guard were rough looking. I had seen on a blog about a guy who repainted his racks with bed liner paint. I removed mine and wire brushed them. Painted them with a couple of coats of this bed liner paint. What a nice improvement. The texture of the paint is thick enough it hides any blemishes. I used a black bed liner paint from NAPA which was $10 per can...about twice as much as a standard can of Rustoleum. Two cans painted the front and rear racks, the headlight frame/guard, and the hitch. Has a bit of a can leftover. Getting good comments when people see the improvement.
Good idea. Thanks for sharing.
