Ready?? My meter says I'm getting power to the spark plug but the wire doesn't shock me.. any ideas??
The only real way to test is to put a spark plug in the cap hold it against the engine head a then kick the motor over while holding the plug to see if it is sparking. check that and report back
Did that one already mnothing..
Will the wrong type of coil pack cause it not to fire??
possibly what kind of coil did you use and have you tested all of your electronic per the ohm spec in your shop manual
No shop manual but have been working on bikes since I was 16.. this is the first time I've experienced something like this
I'm using a nippondenso off a 250 bayou I had laying in the shop
Not a grounding issue and I'm using a cdi off another bike that I know was good because it came off my daily rider
here is a link to the manuals for most of the honda 3 wheelers 200x included http://www.oscarmayer.net/atc/manuals/. I am not sure if that coil is going to work I would take the coil off of my daily driver and see if you have spark. what may be happening is the bikes motor may not be supplying that coil enough juice to make the plug spark but giving off enough juise to register on the multimeter. if you rule out the coil you are going to have to ohm out all the electronics untill you find the problem. and do not forget to check the spark advancer for broken springs that can cause all kinds of electrical problems.
