'84 Kawasaki KXT250 Tecate![]() ![]() As you can see Im totally torn down. As I write this my Tecate is getting Powdercoated and polished at Sumax here in NY. They mostly work on Harleys but were excited when I told them what I wanted. They do only show quality work. www.sumax.com Ed Note: I believe these are the same people who powdercoat the motorcycle parts on the show "American Chopper" Anyway I should have all those parts in the pics in about a week. Im hoping to have a rolling chassie by September. I dont work due to a busted up back so it takes time to get the cash. By the way for all of those parts in the pics, it only cost me $560.00 Thats 3 colors Califorina Grape, Tecate green with gold flake and chromium with gold flake. This thing is gonna look fast sittin still. Ive lugged this Tecate around for about 8 years and everytime I got it going something went wrong so I said screw you and tore it down for the complete job. Electrical, liquid cooling, top end, and Sumax is trickin out a few engine p! arts with the Grape and polish. All the suspension will be rebuilt as soon as I get my parts back. So far I got about $1200 into her and I need plastic, tires, and some stainless nuts and bolts.I figure around $1500 when finished. Then its up for sale. 8-04-03 Well I got my parts back from Sumax today, and man I allmost lost it. They had everything wrapped up, so all I could see was the frame. I did 80 mph all the way home, and started unwrapping. Holy Hindu! This stuff is show quality. Im liking the color scheme, and in the sun the Tecate green and chrome Powdercoat with that gold flake is Sick. Well I wrapped it all up to go build it so I will give you all a teaser. He He. The frame is Powdercoated Califorina Grape, but I took this pic at night so it looks kinda blue. IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() ![]() 8-06-03 Well here is a pic of the Tecate parts after I got it back from Sumax. I hope you all like. I should have a rolling chassie in a week or two. ![]() 12-5-03 I'm just writing to let you know that the Tecate project is still going. The time frame I gave and the money needed were way off. But thats how it goes. Anyway I purchased everything else to finish off the trike. New Maier Fenders, DG Brushed Steel Exhaust with Silencer and new ITP T9 Pro Series rims for the rear with New Titan Fast Trekkers. New Titan Turf Tamer for the front but it looks like a rear so im not sure. I cant seem to find a tire like the original that was on it, with the tread pattern and shape. I also got all new bearings for through out the bike. That all cost a pretty penny for sure. Any ways I just wanted to let ya know that Everything on this bike has been Redone or is New. There are only some Nuts and Bolts that are not show quality. My builder got jammed up for the last few months, but he says we should get started by Jan. 1st We will be putting the whole Fabrication on CD in order to document the Quality and Amount of work done to this Tecate for future Buyers when it is completed. Hope to send in some great photo's soon. |
