How does a KLT differential work?
How do they work? Automotive style or just unhooks one wheel so it floats like a snowblower? And did the KLT250's have the diffs? Thanks guys.

In locked mode, it's like a straight axle. Unlocked, they operate independently.
The KLT200-B and KLT250-A are solid axle.
The rest of the KLT200's and KLT250's have the locking differential.

On one rear side there is a black center, can't remember which one right now. All you do is turn to the right then it is locked.......just like 4wd hubs....turn to the left unlocked again....it's that easy...........John

There are two types of differentials.
On the KLT200-A's, the shifter is on the differential case.
The rest are like unclebernie's.

Sorry, I didn't realize there were different ones....I should have specified mine is on an 84 Prairie 250....Thanks Mike

there is a nut there loosen the nut and take an allen wrench and tighten the inner part and it will lock
-
Make sure it's either all the way in or all the way out.
Anything in between, could be costly.

I know this is an old thread, but i just got this KLT 200A running and wondering how to engage the diff lock. I took off 2 bolts and found the allen head. Took off the jam nut but i can't get the allen to turn to engage the other wheel. Am i doing this right? Any suggestions or an exploded view of the diff?
