    my 73 atc70 project

well for some time now i bought a 1973 atc70.

its going to be for my wife as a pit bike. i didnt want to have to pull start it or what not and wanted to make it friendly for her. so i went to the local pit bike shop and picked up a lifian 110cc with reverse and electric start for her. i bought the whole deal for this motor from carb, wiring harness, coil, cdi, start stop switch, battery, intake and air filter.

this 73 atc70 seen better days. the neck was bent and twisted a couple of times in its life and repaired to the best of whomevers ability, the also welded on some other guesset to help the neck. i noticed the steering head was a little of kilter from the rest of the trike so. out came the cut off wheel and choping started. i also think i will strech it 1" at the steering head for a little more room at the tank and fender to motor area.

i plan on (did allready) cutting a hole just under the seat to hide the battery and cdi. since its in the way of the neck i will resupport it off to the sides of the battery.

ill post some pics today to show you where im at, to where im going.

i would like to redo a 73 atc70 at some point. just a heads up if you want to stretch the frame for comfort you could go with a set of bar risers like the ones i got on ebay. they raise the bars 1.25'' and push them front .65'' and still use the stock cables. i have also stretched my other frame 2'' for a 155z motor and stretched my brothers 70 3'' for his comfort and possibly a big motor later down the road. just something to think about before you cut and stretch the frame for just 1''. keep the pics coming!

ill look into that, thanks for the link.

as you can see the the steering head is off a little.

    battery and cdi hole

    extra guessets that were added

    neck removed

new support for the new neck

    cutting the steering head off

i went to home depot and found that 1 1/2" black pipe is just the right size.
i got sch 80 so it will not bend again. it was 3.78 a foot, i bought 4' just
    incase.

might be a chopper now lol.
