    350x Toolbox Mounting questions.

After doing several searches, does anyone have any pictures of the factory 85 350x toolbox mounted on their 85 350x? I know the 85 250r and 350x use the same toolbox, but I was wondering what the 350x toolbox looked like mounted up and what all the proper hardware looked like. I know this would be the perfect question for "Hondaline Hartman".

Pat, here is a link to a unmolested 350X. Not any particulary close ups of the tool box . Perhaps you can phote edit for detail (?).

Yes, close-ups please without the rear fenders. That would be greatly appreciated. Do you know if the mounts on the 350x are the same as the 250r?

    Try this link:

If you click the photo, you'll get a much larger version. See if this give you enough detail. What exactly are you wondering about? The metal brackets on the backside?

That would be it.... nice job Pete. The 86 setup has some brackets on the backside, and obviously, the deeper and square end. 85R is the same as the 85 350X. Also, if you break the main toolbox, you can use a 200X one, and just swap out the 85R/350X 'nose cone' lid in place of the flat one on a 200X.

I have a part number for an available toolbox that fits with a simple collar on a 350X with a PRM grab bar. 45$ new.....

BUT, if you want the right brackets etc, I can understand. I look in my bin, if I have a 350X bracket, I'll never use it and it's yours Pat.

I've got some 86/87 200X brackets I can't figure out for the life of me, , but I can't win the correct toolbox anyway even if I wanted to...........

Thanks for the pics and the links everyone. Pete, why does Inv3ctiv3 mounting look different than yours? He seems to have some kind of different brackets. And this very thing is what was causing me confusion before. Did some 85s have the stand off brackets and some didn't? Or is the big difference just that inv3ctiv3 is using that aftermarket 6 pack rack? It's hard for me to tell. And that microfiche on bikebandit has me a little confused also.

Hey Pat , not sure bud but the pics i took are from a very low hour bike (maybe 10 hours max) and it's never had a wrench on it so would say thats how it came out of the factory.....

I realize I'm reviving a very old thread here, but I am trying to add an original 85 tool box to an 85 350X. I have the tool box and ONE of the "stay" brackets for the backside. The tool box and single bracket were purchased from different vendors, so im not 100% sure they fit correctly together. trying to piece it together it just doesn't seem correct. can anyone confirm the use of the stay brackets on the 85?

Edit: It actually looks like that’s a rear bracket for the ‘86.

Well it could be, it just doesn't look like it fits, or would do much good the way it positions. The frame of the 350X has a small wire bracket welded on behind the tool box, and you can see where the tool box I purchased has rub marks from the 350 it cam off of. That give me the impression that there are no stay brackets used.
