new member looking for help

I just figured out how to post on the forumn correctly, disregard this, Ill ost it there

I have a 1986 atc 250r Honda
2 things
1.) the ignition coil wire was faulty so I ordered a new one and of course the spark plug boot does not come on it, does anyone have detailed instructions on how to put it on, is it crimped and/or how to do that.
2.) I have purchased some high temp header paint for the exhaust system to brighten it up, can I paint the engine with th same? Someone before me painted the engine gold and I dont like it? Also how would you prep the surface to use the paint
