    1984 200R question..

i have a 96 yz 125 for sale,a guy sent me a message and said that he has an 84 honda 200R,would i be interested in a trade.
so i googled around to see what it looks like and am finding nothing, but that it is a rare bike and it is a sleeved down 250r to compete in the 200cc race class??it was never a production bike.selvy engine??
i called the guy cause i am interested.
he said that he has had the trike for about 16 years and has replaced the plastics, seat, piston, brakes,he has done lots of work to it.but his son wants a dirtbike.
but.....the trike doesn't have the original engine,it is out of a honda 200xr dirt bike,4 stroke.
i am not sure if he still has the original engine, but i am going tomorrow to see the trike and maybe trade.and if he has the original stuff grab it.
the bike is red and white, has the prolink suspension and disc brakes.i have not seen any pics of this yet.
i am new to this forum, any input would be great.

    i am from BC,canada.

hmmm sounds like a 200x with an XR motor but the prolink mod sounds interesting! as the factory 200 never had prolink

    Wow...

I only remember the 200R as a bike that Team Honda had...

If it is one of those bikes, they would be rare and I would look into it!

    Good luck.

i'm pretty pumped to see what it actually is.
i will post pics up asap.
even if it is a 200x,its still pretty cool.is there anything that will stand out,so when i go and see it,that will let me know that it is a 200r.something that is different from the 200x

    Found this....

These pics look accurate to the factory 200R bike that I remember seeing at the Tacoma Dome race in 85.

and i think it is a just the stock engine for it.
the guy didn't really have his facts straight on what kinda trike he had.
i will have to clean it and make it look good.and post up some more pics.
    the trike starts good,sounds good.

what i like doing is taking them apart and, cleaning, painting, and fixing whatever it needs.but i want to make it more racer looking.
i was reading that 300/400ex hubs will widen it,but what about the rear suspension, will the pro link from a 250r fit?
i guess what kinda performance parts can i get for this, different plastics, hubs, exhuast, etc.
the rear tires are new,but i would like some sort of low profile tire.
    any susgestion guys

the proi link suspension is totaly differnt and requires some welding and fabrication plus the nearly all of the 250R suspension, then if you dont set the suspension linkages correclty it wont work corectly either.
