    looks like a 200s to me as well.......i dont think the 185s's ever had a suspended front fork, pretty sure that was unique to the 200. somewhere on the base of the cylinder near the seam between the cylinder and crankcase should be stamped the engine displacement.

    83 was the last year for the 185 (s). After 83, they just continued to make the 200s, and forgot all about it.

    You got the pics up and now some answers. There is a VIN decoder on here. Pull the vin off the neck and run it.

    I CANT, the entire thing was painted i tried removing some, its all f-ed up looking

    are the springs even important? do they just allow for advancement of spark?

    Well the vin is imprinted in the frame so a little paint over it shouldn't make it unreadable. Wipe a little paint remover over the vin area. If you still can't read it, it's probably stolen.

    Get some paint thinner or aircraft stripper and it should take the paint right off. Pugg is right, if it is ground off or mutilated it is probably stolen, or has been in the past.

    Baby powder, then blow it off. You should be able to read the vin unless it is completely smooth.
