    any enduro riders here

I have the chance Next spring to get my buddy's 1993 Kawasaki KLR 650, his dad owned it since new and he now owns it. it has 10,000 miles and i can git for 900.00. it needs radiator shroud and a rear tire . other than that its in nice shape. I'm not into rockets or cruisers. just wondering if anyone has any input on this bike like nay or yea.

for 900 it's a GOOD around town short run road bike...fireroads or wide trails are managable. The bike itself is pretty heavy for single track and sloppy offroad riding. Not to say it hasn't been done or couldn't be done aswell. The closest I've riden to it was a 650XR waterpumper, full offroad...fast, and heavy to the point were I thought I wanted one but after a day of riding it...just too much weight for me offroad. One nice thing about it was a billygoat hillclimber, with a spent rear tire(weight+smooth power=lots of usable traction).

If your looking for a trail bike or a dirtbike in general i would look elsewhere but it your looking for a bike to cruise around town on and maybe hit up some logging roads or wide trails as stated above it sounds like a decent pick up for 900 bucks. its really just a question of what you want to use it for this is more of a road bike trying to masquerade as a dirt steed, and doing a poor job at it, but in its element it does pretty well.

like stated, it depends. tight technical trails and stuff, its worthless. for mostly road cruising/wide trails, its nearly perfect.
