Very nice work/write up Javier. I am impressed with the changes in the 87 but also very impressed with what stayed the same, for the most part.
That machine you picked up is in extremely nice condition ! Our buddy Alex will be beside himself (very envious) when he gets to see it first hand.

    great post

" I actually think it is good that you have clubs where people can go and enjoy riding these things together. It reminds me of how the prisoners on death row have fun waiting for their turn on the electric chair. Fair enough, the trike isn't an electric chair, but it is about as safe and comfortable as one."

Javier1963, So glad that machine fell into the hands of a person who has passion for these awesome bikes. You really have a pair of second gens to be proud of, that will no doubt improve with detailing and cleanup. Good stuff....

great post javier. i recently picked up an 87 tecate here in the states (at least believed to be an 87 due to the rear caliper being the 87 type). it seems as though that headlight shroud is also different to allow room to use the keyed ignition. very cool. thanks for the post.

I have never seen an 87' before and man I'll tell you what, those bikes are NICE. Alot of little but nice changes. Why they stopped making these is beyond me and was a HUGE corporate mistake. Nice bike Javier, Gracias por compartiendo tus motos. I think I said it right. Haha

Is the carrier different since the brake looks to be in a different place or is it just because the caliper is different?
    Partzilla says carrier different part.

Wiring harness should have 4 extra wires. Where do they all go?

I have an 87 and the carrier is different. Since the rear disc is larger they had to change the mounting bracket, plus they re-enforced it so it wouldn't flex.
