Off the top of my head I know of 2 people that have KX500 motors in the 84-85 Tecate. Here is one of them. You can pm or e-mail him from his profile. His profile has pics of his 500 Tecate.

1986 ATC250R (Desert Bike, WAX-ON seat, Dual Cibie lights, Steering Stabilizer)

I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean, but it doesn't just fall together with the wave of a magic wand.

It is much easier to put the KX500 motor in a second gen Tecate than a first gen. The exhaust port on the KX motor comes directly out the front of the cylinder. On the first gen Tecates the down tube on the front of the frame is right in the way. The second gen Tecates have a split down tube so the exhaust can clear. The motor mounts are close. You will have to make some plates to mount it up, but that isn't hard. The hardest part is getting a pipe that works. You can mod the KX pipe to work, which is what I have, but it is not perfect. It will work though.

You're going to go ahead and put double the engine in an already powerful trike?!

A flywheel and stator will cost you about $170 from Ricky Stator. Pop them in and you'll be ripping away within about half an hour.

Getting the stator out is fairly easy IMO. PM me if you need some help.

the frame cradle and pipe are the only real hassles.. I would suggest changing gas tanks and run the exhaust on the right side.

when have i said its easy? i didnt did I... I was being fuchsias...

with all conversions... I start at the sprockets and swing arm bolt... I have seen TOO many people start chopping up frames trying to fit the exhaust,etc.. just to find out your sprockets are way off and you have neglected the most important part of the conversion

It is not a concern with the Tecate. They line right up.

i know they do... but when you built your Tecate 500.. did you bolt in your motor with the swing arm bolt, or just start making mounts... that was my point... ill be posting detailed pics soon of my 86 conversion... gonna hope to give a nice step by step plan for people who want to follow

I understand now. I'm not trying to take a jab at ya, but if your grammar were a bit better I would have understood what you meant.
