If I remember right those ran pretty good, but these 200's were faster then our 250's. At Boyd TX. I set fastest lap times of the night on the big oval.

I had the fastest lap at Boyd Tx. oval until the national in 84. Should have won the 250 class but my reed valve (boydson) broke a peddle and we didnt get it diagnosed quick enough so I didn't qualify. My team mate Mike Park won that night, first privateer to win a national, they said. At least that's what the adds said on the next magazine issues. The cammex motors ran good on the big oval. Motoman, about that 200 cammex motor, is it an air cooled or a water cooled top end. My trike (83-84) had the water cooled model and they were good running motors. The air coolers are what we mostly sold to the public and they were fast also just not as trick looking back in the day, but probably more reliable. We had water pump issues we delt with that I remember.

Oh yea, I also think Mickey won a bunch of races as a privateer that weren't labeled nationals but really he was probably the first privateer to win big races on a regular basis.

I think every race my father in law(Doug Richards) put on he call it a national. lol The first race I won against Honda was the King Dome in Seattle 1983,two weeks later was the OK city winter National. They just put lables on races to make them sound good back then lol

I was always curious how much titanium was used in the factory atc,s. Especially the 200 two strokes. Less weight = more hp per lb.

My Cammex Honda was a 250 r in race form, and than reduced to like 214 cc. (200 cc + .80 over ) and it seemed like they were heavy. I always wanted to build a 4130 frame but that would have only been 5 lbs or so.

I noticed that the first picture of Mickeys 350, at the 84 OKC winternationals were our team ( Cammex) in the background. That year we brought a Semi with box trailer like 50 ft long. Heck, we even parked it up by the grandstands. We must have paid someone to get that done, Lol.

Mickey thanks for setting the record straight about the factory 200R bikes. I was one of those whom thought that the MTX engine was used in those "works" machines. Very interesting!
    Sorry for my misinformation.

One of my Oklahoma neighbors, Guy Cooper was a Team Honda MX (bike ) racer in the late 80s and they got some TY on there MX bikes. Honda 3 wheeler team must not have had the funding for that.

3 and 4 wheeler racers will never be on the same level as the Motorcycle racers, they built a $30,000 200 class racer and built it out of a 200x frame! I didn't understand it then, and I see it as just plain stupid now. I was going faster quicker on a 200 then the 250s,and they give us a 200x with a rocket motor! lol
