I hope this is the right spot, if not feel free to move. Also, I apologize if the link has already been posted and I didn't see it, either way this needs as much expose as it can get.
If you ride in the Oregon dunes, or ever plan to ride here, please visit the link and sign the petition. A forest Service management plan aims to close 99% of the trails from Coos Bay to Florence. This would basically leave only open dunes and those long whoop-de-doo'ed sand roads. The trails, which the F.S. claims are user made and unmanageable, are half the fun in the dunes, not to mention, where riders that may not have the bike to handle the open dunes can ride, or maybe prefer a slower pace, or enjoy the scenic views found in the trails. I know from personal experience, that, less than 10 years ago, the trails in the dunes were key to me learning to operate my quad (yea, I know, but it was next to free) in a less crowded area. This allowed me to feel comfortable with my machine before heading out to the open sand.
Not to mention that the basis of the plan was written between 1990 and 1994. The use of the dunes by ATV users has exploded since then....
Anyway, here's the link:
