    Big trucks

Since I am a big truck junkie more than trikes, who is with me for next years rodeo. If I can shoehorn the KT in the narrow hood I might be able to
have some fun with these guys.

I'm a big truck junkie too. I've been to some rodeos in California. Mostly timed course driving. I've owned Freightliners and Pete's.. I'm a Peterbilt guy for life...

Big trucks are my favorite! We have 4 mid 80's trucks that we use to haul grain, 2 extended hood Pete's, one standard Pete, and a KW W900. All were origionally equipped with sleepers; which we removed a few years ago and shortened the frames. All four of them have 3406 Cat engines and Eaton 15 speeds. That 3406 is a damn fine engine. They'll pull a 90,000lb + trailer load of beans out of a soft field at idle. Not to mention nothin' beats the sound of a 8" straight pipe on a diesel.

    Nothin' beats a Pete.

i work with BIG equipment.. so naturally everything is BIGGER ... we use to have 3412 cats but we bought the last 5 mechanical governor engines avalible,,, these were right at 1000 hp. so now we have to deal with the new series motors,, the c-18 is a 6 cylinder vs the 3412 v 12 ,, half as many cylinders and the same power???? think it is going to last as long?? 25,000 hours?/ HELL NO .... so now we have a 3456 twin turboed 6 cylinder 950 hp.... i have one with 6000 hours and its already showing bad signs in the oil samples,,,,, looks like cat is going backwards on dependability and realiability.... we are currently looking at cummins newest generation motors ,,,,,,,,,,,

    Cummins KT600 motor

My uncle had a Cummins Big Cam 400 with KT parts Making over 700 hp in his '80 Pete

He had a switch on the dash that would change his cam timing. Black smoke/no smoke so he could run in California

    My first truck ('85 Freightliner)

2nd truck ('86 Pete Extended Hood 425 Cat 15 over)

My uncles '80 Pete (He laid it over in MO after being hit by 3 time drunk driver, It's now a dump truck in MO)

    Downtown Chicago

THE ONLY PARTS INTERCHANGABLE BETWEEN A BIG CAM AND A KT IS THE FUEL PUMP!! and all you have to do is setup a different cpl number in the pump to make hp! 600 hp in a big cam is pretty easy,,

th k-line engines were a larger industrial engine big cam motors were 855 ci.. whereas the kt was 1150 ci. the kt has 6 individual heads and is much larger,,, some did infact make it into trucks,, but in states like arizona they were so heavy you could be overweight on the front axle without a load,,,, but man did they have alot of torque!!!

I hear what you are saying. Not to mention all the EPA garbage costing ALOT of money industry wide in down time, repairs and parts.... Guess thats why Cat got out of the on-highway business.

If you dont mind my asking, what is it you are working on that runs those big engines?? Industrial size generators???

I saw a custom 359 Pete once that had a twin turbo Cat, 950hp v-12. It is one C.L. Werner's show trucks. (Founder and CEO of Werner Enterprise)
