    198? trx125 help?

Hi, I recently purchased a 80's trx125 in need of work.Has been sitting outside for couple years.
Did get the engine to start using starting fluid.
Brakes need work, drive chain, frozen cables, rusted out gas tank, ripped seat and loose front end parts, water in pull start.
I tore the carb apart and lots of corrosion and rust, got it cleaned as good as possible. Ripped a couple orings and float bowl gasket, still pitted from the corrosion. Would it be better to buy a rebuild kit or a new carb off ebay?
    thanks

Sounds like you are going to have alot of money in it when you are done. You might as well count on replacing all of the wheel bearings too.

The carb I was looking at was a clone china carb around $30 on ebay.(Not sure on quality)
Seem to be a few threads on it, carb being a hit or miss on working right.
Hoosierlogger: Only paid $25 for it, figure can try to get it going. If it doesn't work out can always sell or part out.
    thanks

Heck yeah you got alot of room before you spend too much on it then. The Chineese carbs are ok, I have one on my 110. It runs fine. Just take them apart and clean it real good before you put it on.

Run the VIN and let me know the year. I will send you the correct TRX manual.

Hi, I'm fairy sure the atv is a 1985. Couldn't find anything except one sticker on the frame mostly missing though.
Also found the frame is cracked in the rear.
    thanks
