I am trying to remove the stator on my 83 200e and am stumped as to how to stop the bolt from spinning as a try to loosen it... any help? I'm sure I'm missing something easy

The best way to remove a bolt on part of the rotating assembly would be to use an impact gun. If you don't have access to an impact gun, you can put the piston at the bottom of its travel and feed a rope into the cylinder through the spark plug hole.

oh jeeze, I forgot all about stuffing a rope in the spark plug hole. Thanks for the reply!

Assuming the motor is still in the trike just put it in gear!!! That is if the chain is still on.
I wonder if it matters if the valves are closed? with that rope in there.
like on it's way to TDC on compression stroke/
I'd also like to know which of these life critical bolts and nuts really are
left or right handed threads.
The manual is not very clear.
Does that stator project require a flywheel puller?
