    Right side cover

I have a 1986 big red and I need to find the right side cover by the kick start, anybody have any ideas on where I can find one. I was riding my grand baby saturday and she used the exhaust pipe for a foot rest and burned her boot heel off. Thank God she didn't get burned. Thanks wrecker704

No one has a side cover, they must be hard to find.

The right side cover is still available from your Honda dealer.
If he says there not available, ask him to do nation wide search.
If he still says they ain't available, find another dealer.
Exspect to pay about 75-80 dollars and how ever much shipping is to get from another dealer.

I don't understand what the side cover has to do with somebody using the exhaust pipe for a foot peg.

Ahh.... I think you're right Sooper Doodie. (Nice name BTW)

That would be called your exhaust shield, or exhaust heat shield. The side cover is a part of the engine Wrecker.

Hey, what's the deal on that exhaust pipe wrap stuff?
Supposed to keep one from getting burned.

I saw some 'clip on' heat shields somewhere that were held on with hose clamps.
but don't remember where. Some sort of universal fit things.

Reminds me, I need some too.
I can't imagine getting the rusty oem screws off however.

If it's a perfect place for a footrest, I'd be tempted to double sleeve it with
a full length of split pipe,
Might help with a rollover and a leg pinned between the hot pipe and the ground.
Happened to me once except with the added entertainment of gas dripping as my pants were frying.

but thinking were not supposed to ride with kids anyway..
I cannot imagine living with the guilt of permanent damage or scars.

Good reason to fix it for sure.

It is not the heat shield. I need the cover that goes over the kick start on the right side, I was hoping someone would have one on 3ww rather than the dealer. She didn't know it was the exhaust pipe. Thanks wrecker704

Believe it or not, that price Johnny just quoted for a brand-new side cover is not bad at all. You have to realize with these machines we're lucky if the parts are available at all, never mind reasonably priced.
