    Moto Ski zephyer 338

I just bought a 1969 moto ski zephyer 338 with a BSE 440T motor, my neighbor sold it to me for $50, the hoods kinda beat up but other then that it alright, he says it needs new coils and she'l run(it ran last year) he says coils are like $20 a peice new at our local shop, I was wondering if honda coils would work?? since i have a few already that are good. I was also wondering what a ratio mix would be?(my neighbor says he runs 32:1 with high test) also is there anything else i should know about this sled??(this is my first sled) thanks for any info.

I would recommend 32:1, and see how she runs. Higher octane might a be a good idea in an air cooled motor also. Snowmobiles just seem to go forever. Wit hthe coils, I wou8ld try what you have it sounds liek your not to concerned with keeping it original or nice. $20.00 a coil is cheep though.

    Eww.. Moto ski zephyr...

Put as little money into it as possible, run it, kill it, buy something newer. You might get to make a oddyssey type frame for that 440 engine eventually.

Basically, Any machine from that era was a heavy, slow, ill handling, unreliable heaps. Most of the early model (before bombardier took over) model Motoski sleds were pretty anemic. There was not that much around to compete with, but even in it's time it was never the ride to have.
