Polaris 3 Wheeler Owners Only Please

Just wanted to start a thread for Polaris 3 wheeler ( P3's ) owners only. Not trying to upset the Non-P3 owners but I'm trying to help build a owners Data base / registry and see if we have enough to start a P3 group. This thread could also help us incase we need a part / help we will know who to turn to for advice and or parts.

    I will start this off

As of 4/1/2012 I currently have 6 of them ( 4-5 runners / potential runners and 1 donor machine ). I will get years and pictures as I can.

2 gas tanks(one mint....the other gray like almost every other i see)
2 sets of front and rear plastic
1 good engine, but...it has the shot starter

I like the new club. Especially like how many I am seeing popping up recently.
Mine is a 1985 model. It has been at TrikeFest the past 3 years.
It is almost ready to go under the knife for swingarm bushings, starter motor, chain/sprockets and some other doo dads.

Starts first pull in any weather and runs like a champ!
    Pictures forthcoming.

    No frame number given out.

I have one, ain't so sure as to what year any more, used to know. Not that concerned what year it is particularly.
Did not like the gold factory colored rims with the other colors so I painted them silver.

    * I do NOT recommend frame numbers be posted up if you value your machine unless it is titled in your name. And even if titled to you, you are still taking a risk. *

Finally went and picked up the p3 today and it definately needs some parts and some tlc, I need a clutch for sure, handlebars, swingarm bushings, new cables would be good, the starter/lights switch on the handlebars, clutch cover(front and back) left foot rest, exhaust heat shield, starter and alot of love and I am sure I will find a few more things, on the brighter side it starts right up, I do have a few questions where is the vin located on these things? also what years trailboss are the parts interchangable?and is there supposed to be brackets under the rear fenders to keep the fenders up or are the fenders supposed to attach to the rack because I see holes in the fender but they do not match up to the rack I know it is supposed to attach somehow and it isn't and that is why the exhaust melted the fenders, If anyone has some of these parts I need shoot me a pm, glad to join the club though and have one of these rare trikes

    Cool idea Howdy,

I have 2 polaris scramblers, one is a late 86 model and the other is most likely a late 85 or early 86. Some of the differences that I have noticed between the early 85 and the 86 are the 85 muffler rested on a ball( I know this because I spent 10 on the ball and then I realized that it changed later into 85 and 86) while the 86 muffler rested on a rubber puck, the 85 had a wire heatshield(like in the polaris ads, but I have yet to find one anywhere) the 86 had a sheet metal shield, the rear fenders are different on the 2 by the shifting knob area. The 85 gas tanks faded to a gray color, while the late 86 tanks maintained their color very well like the Honda 250r tanks. The 86 had a reverse regulator and override switch while the 85 didn't. I was told that the 86 had silver gas emblems and the 85 had gold ones by a member who posted above me a couple of posts., It seems that the early 85's are the hard ones to find.

Interesting post. I have one with gold Polaris/PVT emblems and the tank is brown/gray. My other 2 have silver Polaris/PVT emblems and those tanks are both black.
None of mine have a wire heat shield or a reverse over-ride. I guess that possibly means the first is a late 85 and the other 2 are early 86.
Anyway here are my 3, all run great. Also if anyone has any more pics of theirs, I'd love to see them!
