MY FEEDBACK THREAD- http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthr...ight=aldochina
awesome build!!!! i restored my 84 200x that was a ball of rust when i got it. but looking at yours im totally jealous. maybe a noob question.... but what is the dash yall are referring to. thanx
oh yea ... old pics. it now has a chrome DG exhaust (couldnt find supertrap)lol. and a couple other things. Im not familiar with a few things but if anyone reads this i would appreciate some info. I want to extend my axle and put smaller track style tires ( i believe thats what they are), basically their more flat around the outside of the tire. In contrast mine on there now are the "bubble" tires that i believe were the originals from 1984. I could please use some help/info on the common or appropriate wheel, tire setup if anybody can help i'd greatly appreciate it. thanx
Absolutely gorgeous! I am in AWE!!
I love the '86 white Hondas! Amazing JOB! I love it. I saved these on my hard drive!

I forgot about this thread, that was a great build and it has a NOS 86 seat and rear grab bar, now those are hard to find new. Once again great job Vincent!
Thanks again guys for the nice comments. I will be starting work on another 200x soon. This one an 87. I unexpectedly came upon a nice 86 350x last year, so that has had my attention. What a great bike! All original from the original owner in California. Unfortunately, I had to put another tank on it because it was sitting and it had a little surface rust in it. So that will need re-painting at some point to the correct Shasta White and correct 86 decals. I already added a dash to it and it will be getting 20" tires so it can slide better as well as a smaller rear sprocket to keep the gearing close to stock.
WOW, beautiful work there; Keep em coming!!![]()
All our government does is distract us while they steal from us, misspend our tax $ and ruin our country
what shifters fit it? I am rebuilding mine 86 200x and it has a 350x shifter now and is too long.
Damn, that is very nice man. Good job. I too saved all the pics so I can see what mine wants to look like when it is done!!
I plan on getting started on my 86 restoration real soon once my motor is finished. I have a few questions. How did your paint schedule go? How was the frame and other various silver parts painted? Did you just use spray can or have a body shop gun shoot it all. Did you clear coat it all after paint?
Either way what brand of paint did you use and what were the color codes for all the colors, the red specifically. Since yours turned out so good I wanna replicate your paint schedule.
thanks
This is how builds should be done. This is the bar that needs to be met. Perfect man.
Bigezee, mostly everything on the 86 was powder coated. The red I believe is RD03. I picked it out at a local shop. I wanted RAL3020 but they seemed hassled by ordering it. It ended up coming very slightly darker than the original red. Most people would have no idea that it is. The bike I am working on now will be getting RAL3020 as it should be a more exact match for the original Passion Red. I don't know the numbers of the satin black and the silver that were used. The brake calipers were all stripped down and then I painted them with VHT semi-gloss black caliper paint and then baked in the oven. Case covers are powder-coated satin black. The tank is still the original OEM Shasta White NH138 paint with the original decals so I don't have a substitute base-clear paint code for that yet but have been doing some testing with GM Super White for the 350X and it is pretty spot-on. Hope that helps and best of luck with your bike.
Thanks for the info.
Was thinking about powder coating but I think I'm basically going to go base/clear paint on everything, makes doing touchups much easier and would also be cheaper for me in this area around here and something I could do myself without sending it out. What are your thoughts on using the VHT paints for the motor and swingarm. Would want something durable and heat resistant and as close to the original color/sheen as possible. thanks
The VHT works pretty good. It goes on a little weird but when you bake it in the oven or bbq, it smooths out and looks better. The Honda black is tough to match. It's somewhere between a satin and a gloss, so if you can find semi-gloss thats what you want. VHT has semi-gloss but not every place has it.
