I dont know, your bike could have had a hard life.. I've never had a frame crack.

how hard is it to rebuild them?

mabe i dont beat on it so i dont understand why one of the strongest parts of the frame cracked

does any one even run one without an air box? if i do what do i have to watch out for besides puddles?

mine is a old vintage Maier one. It has mounts for the forks with plastic screws that screw to the plate.

Unless you are the person who bought it brand new in '85 then you really don't know it's entire 27 year history and what it's been through. Steel gets fatigued over years of use and sometimes cracks can occur.

Yeah it does get dirty faster.. but you get more power

yeah exactly,,i dont llike the light .....i like my 250r wide low and with a number plate lol...(not like super low like 2 inches lower than stock or less)
