This is a cut and paste from my thread on ClubATC, thought it might be of interest to some of you
A few people know about this project already so thought it was time I started a thread on it!
We have never had a road registered trike but my dad has now decided he wants one.
He is convinced that a trike with a solid rear axle is pretty useless on the road so we very nearly bought
a KLT250 which has a lockable diff. The bike wasn't in the condition we expected and it was a bit crude so
in the end we didn't buy it.
Rather than take the easy option he has decided to make a bit of a hybrid so it has all the features he
wants.
Those are full suspension, lockable/un-lockable diff, reverse, electric start and auto clutch.
Currently we have bought an 83' 200x, 1990 ish klf300 and a 1985 250es.
The basic plan is to use the majority of the 250es frame with 200x forks and the klf300 engine and back
axle.
The klf300 has an interesting feature (other than the diff) in that the back axle articulates side to side as
well as up and down, similar to a a landrover axle.
We can't decide if we will keep this feature on the trike or if it will make it strange to ride.
The cutting has already started but I don't have any progress pics yet
Here is the 250es we are using, I will update this thread ASAP
