    Bigger carb for 85 200x

Hello, so I was wondering if I wanted to up my carb to say a xr200 mikuni 26 or 27mm because theyre cheaper and easier to get ahold of than a oem carb. What year intake do I need to make sure my air box hose will line back up the with the carb as if it was still a stock carb. Thanks!

You need a 1980-83 XR200R intake manifold and a DG 27MM kehin carb (hard as hell to find...maybe call DG), that's if you want to be able to bolt the carb to the flange and still get the stock airbox.
If you don't mind using a siphon mount carb, then call sudco or search on EBAY for a 28MM Mikuni siphon style carb and then find a siphon mount intake manifold such as sandscorcher, mossbarger, etc.
OEM carbs aren't that hard to find and rebuild. If you buy the 26 or 27 Mikuni you are going to need to down jet it a few steps unless you plan on running an aftermarket exhaust, upgraded air filter and hotter cam. Just my .02

I have a full aftermarket exhaust and a uni filter. Do i need to run a hotter cam if i was able to get ahold of a oem 80-83 xr200 carb?

no, you don't have to but a good torque or mid range cam really wakes up a 200x.

DG sells genuine 26mm Keihin carbs that bolt right up--I got one last summer. Since it is a larger carb the inside diameter of the stock manifold is a bit smaller but it works until you get a larger manifold from an XR. You may not see the carb on their new website yet but if you call they should have them. Plan on spending a little over $200. You can get the Chinese knock-offs on ebay for about 30 bucks but I understand they don't run Keihin jets and finding ones that work is a challenge. You get what you pay for.

Thanks for the help, any suggestions on a better cam? Id like to keep the bike powerful on the low end. I mainly ride mountain trails.
