Are you having a hard time getting the springs back on? They are kinda tricky, you just need a couple thin screwdrivers and pretend you have three hands.
I also had trouble with my aftermarket shoes being a little thick so my chain links wouldn't click in. I used a flat file on the shoes and took a little off till the link snapped together and they could move freely.

I don't know what your talking about "Pins in the drum" I did mine last fall. You have to put the links on first, hook the spring together and work it around with a screwdriver. Maybe clamp one part of the spring so you can use two screwdrivers to work it around and same for the other side.

In the manual i believe it says you need a 30mm socket and its reverse threads and you should stick a penny or something soft like copper in the gears between the auto clutch and manual clutch to hold it while you loosen it.

A few guys here have the links to the manuals right in their signature.

Not really understanding how your having trouble putting the shoes back on if you haven't pulled the nut that holds it all together yet.....

I have already told you how to remove the nut... Look up!!! Download a manual here. It tells you step by step how to do most everything.
