From my own experience, if you remove the starter reduction cover I expect you'll find a whole mess of broken teeth and other sundry parts. This would likely be caused by the sprag clutch.
I'm being somewhat hypocritical as my Br has the same problem and I haven't had the balls to start stripping it yet!

No back story really. The guy I bought it from just said he had it for friends to drive while he had a 4 wheeler to go mudding in farm fields. He got rid of it because his friends couldnt keep up with his atv anymore

Well a few updates. The big red project has been on the back burner for awhile. Been working a lot of hours out of town, but I have still been buying. I just picked up a frame off of ebay for $80 with shipping. Wow!! Can't believe that one!
I thought it would be a bit easier transferring parts from one frame to another as I rebuild the bike instead of everything laying in the garage wondering what went where. I will update my parts pics and money invested so far. I still am taking plenty of pics though and will continue to do so. I do believe I will be ripping the motor apart and getting the 300 big bore kit for it. Any advice on this will be greatly appreciated as usuall. Also, will rear fenders from an 86 fit my 85?

Well I'm back, and the project is getting resurrected. Lately I have been putting the parts on the ol girl and see how the fit is. Its coming along nicely. Once I have it all up and running with all the parts I will enjoy it till the winter and rip it all down and begin the sand blasting and powder coating and such. So here is our update.....

That Suzuki is a great farm quad. Not a sport machine, but I think it was one of the earliest mass produced quads with full independent suspension. They ride really smooth but without a anti-sway bar they have a lot of chasis roll while cornering. Lots of cables to keep lubed too.

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated it. I will just be doing trail riding and mudding with it. Do not do any type of racing
