Well, it begins!
I guess you can say that I had a brainstorm a few weeks ago. I was browsing through Mickey Dunlap's thread with all of the pictures, and I saw his 84 bike from when he raced for powroll. I then saw the flat track/mx bike pictures from years past. Like everyone else, I thought "hey thats pretty cool!". I began to think about replicating the bike and it has become more of a reality ever since. Here is what I'm planning, along with where/what member or company they will be sourced from.

Trust me, this puts quite the stress on a 16-year-old-with-a-summer-job's wallet. I hope that you guys appreciate all of the time, effort, and capital that I'm going through here. I certainly do!
Don't expect this to be like a 1 month build. Honestly I expect a summer finish, because the summer job with help bring in some funds!

Stripped down and getting a semi-dark gloss BLUE powder coat- Aero Coatings (New Castle PA)
Pretty much every bolt replaced with a SS Socket Head Cap Screw- eBay
Old/worn out parts replaced with OEM
+2 Swingarm that is custom made to look almost exactly like Mickey's -White Powdercoat
Stock rear suspension with Big Al's Extended Swingarm Stiffer spring
MAYBE progressive springs in the front
Front hub, bottom fork tubes and motor mounts Powder coated Powroll BLUE
If I can find one, a upper/lower roller spring-tensioned chain tensioner

White Tecate number plate- DC plastics through Mickey Dunlap and BKM
LOTS of reproduction decals/stickers that were on Mickey's original bike- Bruce (blue27) -Columbia, PA
White #4 for number plate- Made myself from .125" Delrin sheet and AutoCAD+waterjet

TIRES/WHEELS
Douglas .190" 4/190 6"x11" Front rim- smimotorsports
Undecided front tire (looking for opinions!) Thinking Cheng Shin knobbie?
Douglas 4/110 3+5 8x8 Rear Wheels
Fast Trekkers or Turf Tamer rear tires
Would do a +6 axle if I could find a cheap one--- still looking!

Was Mickey's original 1984 have a Maier white 1985 ATC250R front fender? Was it painted or did Maier make white fenders back then? Also was the front tire a Dunlop KT576 23X8-11?

There's no way of knowing if they made them that far back, but I would think that they would. It does not look painted in the old pics. Nowadays, they make different color kits for pretty much any bike/quad. As far as the front tire goes, it is a dunlop 23x8-11, but Here is a pic of it and I don't see any other markings. Mickey had said that he's pretty sure that this was a one-off tire for his bike only.

If you zoom in on the part right below 23 x 8.00-11, it does look like it says KT or TT 576 in very small print

Something I forgot to include in the first post, the hub front, forks, and motor mount powder coating is being done for FREE by RNS powdercoating (tattool23 here on the boards)

SRP fiberglass fenders are what they look like in the picture and yes Maier had white as an option in 84 .

Looks like mickey has a BLEM on his bike!
Anyways, bottom forks and hub are being sent to tattool23's to get PC'd
I will update as i get more parts together.

Yup,that's a Dunlop KT576 23X8-11, OEM for the 1985 ATC250R.

So here are some pics of the bike as it sits right now. Pretty rough, right? I have a lot of work to do...
Front end except for trees is removed, swinagrm is removed, and half of the pipe. Really busy week at school so tonight was the only time to get some work done. There is also a pic of the two swingarms next to each other, one the stock 83, the other my custom +2 (without fish plates) that is going to get a white powder coat.

Looking forward to another GREAT triking year!
I have three BRAND NEW parts on their way for now, MANY to come later on when they are available and something comes up.
#1 NOS Big Al's performance products (BAPP) 200x spring for extended swingarms from tom kreitzer sales in Port Trevorton PA

#2 NOS 23.5 x 8-11 Front tire (nankang knobby) I know, i know, its a bit of a cheap tire, but for a NOS tire and $30 bucks I couldnt pass it up! from the same guy tom

#3 New Clutch actuator lever from my local shop, it is still available because it was used on the 08-09 CRF230L


Blue27 here on the boards just finished my decal set and will have them on the way next week hopefully.

Got the NOS front today. Maybe not 100% NOS as the nubs are missing, but there is no wear other than it being a little dirty. eventually going to have a new front rim from douglas.
Old vs. New (tires are same size, just the old has air and is on a rim. new is not.)

Wow that tire is in great shape. I always thought they looked like the worn in ones. Didn't know they had the slots in the nubs.
