so here's a list of things I still need to do:
-get all of the controls going and set up
-bleed front brakes
-fix my intake/carb situation
-exhaust, whether that be one that I get from mickey or the one I make
-new chain because if the extended swinger
-probably repaint/repowdercoat the gas tank
-Find a +6 axle (not a necessity)

^ That came out super nice!! Huge props to you my friend.
I use EMT from Lowes or Home Depot and mill a .250 flat plate to weld it to. You can change angles and such.
Again real nice job and I'm pretty sure your young so your builds will get better and better and better!!

Looking real good!
Looking very good.Getting close.
So I stepped away from this build (and the forum, honestly) for about 5 years. Things get busy with life (I started this in 2013 when I was 16) and the covid quarantine has finally given me a chance to catch up on it. I've inserted a pic, but everything looks basically the same as it was years ago. This week I've got the front brakes working (rears need parts, coming this week), put in a 14T sprocket since those 16" tires need more gearing, and FINALLY got the mikuni TM28 working with a temporary custom intake (still looking for a cast AL one), but the jetting is way off. It idles but more than half throttle is impossible. The front tire needs a tube, it's leaking around the bead. When I left it, the chain tensioners were completely stripped so I fixed those with some new parts as well.
So what is there still be to be done? Not much honestly. Get the carb tuned correctly, get rear brakes, and clean it up. Honestly thinking about selling the bike since I may be moving before the end of the year and I can't take it with me. Impossible to put a price on it all but we'll see.

I'm new here, I gotta say that's a beautiful bike, you must ride it before you sell it. Since you can't take it with you, then the choice has been made for you.
Too much work to not ride it at least once.

Dammmm. Nice bike.
Trikes owned:
83 Honda 200x "Liquid X"
81 DG 250r : Sold
Yeah, the stock carb was running a 130 main and seemed like that was about all it had to give. Thought I would give the 28 a try, but my keihin to mikuni transition on jets needs work. According to the almighty internet a 130 keihin is a 115 mikuni. But they're not even close, the 115 is tiny. The 130 keihin that was in there looks more like a 190-210 mikuni based on what I have in my jet box. Just need to mess around with it til she's happy.

When you're older you'll regret selling the things you had when you were younger. I know life happens but if there's any way you can keep this around your future self will thank you. I've owned my TRX250R since I was 19, I'm 47 now and so glad I still have it!
Hey all, got everything finished up today. Still dealing with the forks tubes leaving some oil on the forks but it's not a huge deal. Thanks to everyone for your help through this whole project. Just FYI the TM28 was happy with a 15 pilot/230 main/bottom clip on needle (richest). She's a tad rich at half throttle but the 28mm carb was the best decision I've made on this bike. Huge difference.
I believe that I've found a place for the bike when I move at the end of this year. Some close family has the garage space for it and it's almost too much of a project to let go.
