    Got some good ones today.

My weekend mornings coffee and Baileys did the ying and yang thing in my cup. It was perfectly defined at one point, but by the time I grabbed my phone it got a little fuzzy.

Then I moved one of my bikes for the first time since August and this super cool moth with transparent wings fell out of the cover. It was dead, but we decided to do the Weekend with Bernie thing with it and take some staged photos.

The mystery of the Old Leather man

You said Random right? Well here ya go.

The "old Leather man" this is the guy that Pearl Jam wrote the song about.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIFU_G8IK9c

Members here who are from CT and NY, and maybe MA and RI should have heard about him at one point or another... Here is a story about him.
    https://connecticuthistory.org/the-o...-our-memories/

There is a cave near my house that is "supposedly" one of the places he would stay in on his travels through the area. Who knows... it could be or it could just be a town tale.

Well here he is... the Old Leather Man!

another pic of the supposed Leather man... maybe he was older? (or younger) but he looks a bit bigger...lol

So we basically feed the neighborhood squirrels about 8 of em’ all winter long (bird feeder) and the occasional bird or two.
I get home yesterday and was told there’s a dead squirrel and (I) should take care of it....
So today I figure this sucker is frozen to the ground we’ve had a mix of rain/freezing rain snow in the last few days.
I make my way out to the bird feeder and found this:

I would have bet $ it was a squirrel from 50 feet away too. Guess I lucked out..
Two yrs ago the toilet wasn’t flushing with gusto, well there was a fat dead squirrel hanging head down in the stink pipe on the roof blocking the vent. So here I am on a snow covered roof with bar-b-q tongs grabbing a fuzzy tail to lift it out.
Yup so, welcome to Shep’s life....
    Happy new year!

    That's a Nor'eastern Rock Squirrel.

They can lay perfectly still and blend in with their surroundings if a predator is spotted nearby.

They are the hardasses of all the squirrel kingdom and will frequently attack by hurling their heavy bodies at their enemies or simply laying in the snowy grass and tripping their prey as they walk by. They can fly but are terrible swimmers and are often never seen again after trying to cross a body of water. Approach with caution.
