Yeah man, no problem, I know how it is. When I got my project Sx, my wiring was pretty jacked up also. Luckily, I had my other all original SX to use as a reference.

Yeah... I don't know anymore. Walked into class this morning and found another puddle under the right crank case. I made the mistake of putting the skid plate on after putting the cover back on with a fresh gasket. It had been leaking again but wasn't hitting the floor or lift where it was parked until it filled the skid plate and poured over. Wiped it all off and watched it with a flashlight on it. It looked like there was still a small gap so I gave each bolt a slight turn. When I torqued them down they were at the low to mid torque range. I figured no big deal. Snapped the bolt that holds the reverse cable stay. There already was a hole on the top right behind the dip stick that stripped out before I owned the machine.
So iI'm thinking I'm just going to bring this back home and park it for now. I can't afford a different good running motor that doesn't leak. I can't afford to just replace the inner right case half. If I tear into it that deep then I'm doing a complete rebuild. I guess I still have my Auto-X for now and a beater 200E.
I should just disassemble the whole SX and slowly rebuild it properly.

Keep in mind the threaded holes are deeper than the stock case bolts meaning if you got a case bolt about 5mm longer, you should be able to grab virgin threads.
I know Jim. I just don't have faith in the case sealing. I bought the high torque Permatex. We'll see. I'm just frustrated.

That should work. That's what I use to seal the rocker covers.

Nice score!!!
Where is the best place to separate the motor from the rear end? I'm going to start stripping the first SX I got. I need parts off it to make this new one proper and I would rather have spare parts in the shed for easy access. I will most likely start to get stuff blasted and powdered slowly as funds allow. Then I can rebuild one the right way. Not just slap one together because I'm impatient.

Here you go guys...
Put the white rears on. Not really happy with them. Holes don't line up very well. Ended up twisting once it was bolted together. Stress cracks in the finish just from sitting in a box since they arrived. Get what you pay for I guess. I'll probably invest in a better set.
Put the Cobra on after a couple hours of removing a broken grab bar mounting bolt. Different grab bar. I had to sell the PRM 6-Pack Rack I had.
Lastly, I threw on Douglas .190's with Kenda Bear Claws.
Tomorrow I'll do the white front fender. Still digging around the storage for a better front tire as well.

Hey it getting there. I agree the fit and finish on the Meier fenders is not to the same standards as OEM but hey, its an SX. Separate the swinger from the engine at the swinger pivot. That's the easiest place.
They're not Maiers. They're the fiberglass ones off eBay I got for $130 shipped. I probably would have been happier with Maiers. I wish I had the means for the OD's. Those are sexy.

Looking good, and I'm glad you gave us the low down on those fenders. I've seen them on ebay, and have always wondered about them. They seem to sell ok, but that doesn't really mean they are any good.
